Fright Night and Near Dark are well worth a look.
Near Dark is very hard to find - I managed to get a second hand DVD from ebay. It's a vampire-western, kinda.

Hi Jookbeard - Salem's Lot (the TV mini-series) is pretty good. It's low budget but I thought the director, Tobe Hooper, did a good job.
I've read the Stephen King novel and absolutely loved it. I feel that there could be a really good film in there.
When I was a kid, I loved all of the radioactive monsters - dinosaurs, giant ants and octopuses. But those things haunted my dreams. King Kong (the original) was pretty horrifying to me when the sailors were chased and eaten by the dinosaurs.
The Thing with Kurt Russell - the armatures were so good that they gave me flashbacks in the daytime because my brain couldn't figure out how they were made.
Psychological horror - Lord of the Flies and The Killing Fields. Both made me feel trapped along with the characters.
I haven't watched movies in a while. Those were my way of escaping from the horrors of the WT and Armageddon.
I like horror, but its done like crap most times. Hereditary was good, Older movies, the original The Thing, Exorcist, the Omen, humors horror Bruce Campbell in his evil dead series. Another great dark humor horror is what we do in the shadows.
I really enjoyed Get Out. Anybody plan on seeing Us? Jordan Peele is the new horror guy. I heard that he's involved with the new Twilight Zone project.

I'm not actually sure just how many horror movies I have in my Blu-ray library.
My tastes run more towards the psychological thriller / suspense end of the spectrum as well, but even that is a mixed bag.
I watched The Exorcist (1973) a few years ago and found it dated, hokey and almost laughable
On the other hand, The Haunting Of Hill House (1963) is as creepy today as it was nearly sixty years ago. (IMO)
