The Psychological Manipulation of the Watchtower.

When someone interacts with you they can influence your thoughts and also manipulate your thinking. I became aware that this is what I was doing with householders on the ministry. We chipped away at householders with manipulation, and called it a return call. The aim wasn't to achieve a bible study, the real aim was to get a house holder to attent the Kingdom Hall.

It was at the Kingdom Hall that the psychological manipulation really took place. This is the place where our thoughts were influenced, and manipulated. This is the place we learnt to " tune out" the conversation and follow watchtower thinking and behaviour. So it was in the Kingdom Hall that our self-esteem was lowered and the mind control increased.

Therefore I now realise it was at the Kingdom Hall I was manipulated by fear, and became afraid that i had to live up to Watchtower interpretation of truth, and if i didn't do this i became afraid of the fear and humiliation of being marked or disfellowshipped. I therefore became judgemental and my thoughts became conditioned.

Lets take homosexuality for example, the group conditioned me to believe homosexuality was wrong and all practising homosexuals would be killed by Jehover at Armageddon.

in conclusion as I mentioned in my first paragraph in my opinion the most effective way to get a householder to become a witness was not the bible but attendance at the Kingdom Hall. I therefore also believe the most effective way to get out of the psychological manipulation of the watchtower is to reduce meeting attendance, as then slowly the effects of the mind control will be replaced with more independent thinking.

it should be noted there was once a Watchtoer that had on the front page " Beaware of independent thinking" Quite ironic when you think about it,because surely " independent thinking" is the only form of thinking we should have.

    Any comments?

I guess I was a failure in the ministry. I have never, not even once, been successful in getting a householder to come to the meetings!

Honestly that's what the wts encourages the bros to do. They have put an increased emphasis on getting people in the doors of the Kingdom Hall. By what you are saying I see why.

    so sad..

Darkknight757 " By what you are saying I see why."

Absolutely, and this is why when the watchtower is willing to disfellowship "YOU", to preserve its secrets and prevent exposure. Therefore we need to be aware of the psychological manipulation and not be intimidated by the threats. Also I think it's important that if possible we do not become angry and unstable, as this is only giving the watchtower the victory.

The Waychtower controls " YOU" by threats, fear and humiliation. One of the strongest threats and fear it controls " YOU" by is the consequence of disfellowshipping, which can destroy " YOUR" family relationships.

100% agree. I remember telling my bible student, "you're not going to progress until you start going to the KH." So she finally went, and what do you know is now a baptized subservient. When I think about all the bible students I used mind control on as a pioneer I feel awful. I just remember, I was under mind control too.

Definitely this. My wife and I haven't been to a meeting in over 2 weeks. She feels guilty about it but otherwise she is more relaxed. She has had the opportunity to go several times, but decided herself that she was too tired or had some other excuse. The less she goes the more open she is to talking about TTATT. Unfortunately we're supposed to go to an assembly this weekend.

I'm hoping my dog's diarrhea problem continues and we're forced to stay home. Who would've thought that I'd be hoping for my dog to have diarrhea??? If we do go, I have a piratebox ready to go.

BTW, my dog is ok. She's getting better. She's still a puppy and likes to eat things that she shouldn't. Acorns evidently cause gas and diarrhea. I try to keep her from eating them, but she is very sneaky and got a few too many recently. I know acorns are mildly toxic too, however, from what I read, she'd have to eat a ton of them before the toxins would make her sick.

I always felt sick to the stomach when trying to "preach" to someone while doing the field serve-us because it was like a practical exam, an exercise of what was taught at the kingdumb hall essentially as ways to hook people, let their guard down, and manipulate them by sweet words and love bombing.

Because my self-esteem had begun to diminish when I joined this cult, I tried to avoid talking when meeting householders and let my pioneer partner do it. And as I stood beside them I felt sorry for the householder because he/she was being promised the paradise, everlasting life, but at a great cost to his/her sanity and entire life in the future.

Rebel: You are 100% accurate in your assessment. As a householder, who did attend meetings, it was very evident to me how much time we wasted on niceties and conversation at my house. It was only at the KH, where we felt we had to keep our toddlers quiet and attentive. We felt that we were always under surveillance. They always had someone on duty in the hallway, monitoring even your human needs. My husband was followed into the bathroom, while experiencing digestive problems. He was sitting on the toilet, when the elder informed him that he was "missing the meeting!" (never mind the fact that the talk was being piped into the bathroom over a speaker)... in other words, you can't even take a dump, without our knowing about it...?

Concurrently in another town, my 6-year old niece informed my mother, "Grandma, my mom told me that I can't spend the night at your house tonight, unless you agree to come to the meeting with us tomorrow..."

Yeah I freaked when I realized my JW mountain biking partner had run an number on me and then so did the WTS. They can now manipulate my *** for all I care. I read and research the Bible on my own.
