Well, that's the trick to making comments about current affairs ... you have to be well up on them.
I guess you don't have Question Time over there where ordinary people get to regularly grill politicians?

Yes, bombings are happpening in Turkey, probably the most moderate of the muslim countries. Iraq was probably the second in tolerance of other religions, strangely enough, just not tolerant of political dissent. Also, synagogues were blown up recently. Very little coverage of that. But if a palestinian breaks a nail.....Fundamentalism sucks, whether it is JW, Jewish or Muslim. It's "Bible God" telling all of them to do it, Ironically. And having been through it ourselves, I think that's something almost all of us on this site can agree on. Liberal or Conservative, gay or straight, orange or purple.
(((((((England)))))))). I grieve for your losses. IMO, we should have gone to war, & extremely so. Just not with Iraq. We should have told the Saudi's we'd nuke 'em if there was any more support from their gov. towards al queda et. al, & gone after Afghanistan more so, & Iran & Lebanon. As far as religion, terrorism, etc. Iraq was actually progressive in that region, a secular gov., not a theocracy.

What is your point ???
That's the thing about "ummmmm"; it is a lovely round sort of expression without points or anything implied other than deep contemplation.
I assumed that Simon's critical comments about Bush/Blair made the current event topic into a political one. I'm sorry if I drew the wrong conclusion. It's just that his post came very soon after he requested we stop focusing on politics, as this is not the purpose of the board.
I hope you understand my mistake and thank you for letting me know.

PS: I am also deeply sorry about the loss of life and tragic events targeting Brittons.
It couldn't possible have been the UK government not doing enough to protect their diplomats despite warnings and requests for more security.
indeed........the u.s. consulate was moved prior to the bombing because the area was deemed dangerous and susceptible to attack.

The rest of the world is slowly getting sucked into the Jewish/Palestinian conflict where there will be no place on earth safe. All for what? A tired old book full of myths and superstitions. Thanks to Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair.

Simon--- That's something I've been saying since this terror buisness started . How come they aren't securing these political sites that they already know are targets ?
You might be surprised to find out how many don't know just who is buried in Grant's Tomb.
Right you are. They were probably educated in the Little Red Schoolhouse, but couldn't tell you what color it was.....
(PS) Anyone know what time the Midnight Buffet is being held?
