Proverbs 4:18 says, "But the path of the righteous....grows brighter and brighter until full daylight."

The Bible "light" doesn't get brighter - it never changes - it's a person's direction & course of life which gets brighter.

w11 9/15 p. 14 par. 15 - "When spiritual light on some matter gets brighter, do you try to understand the underlying Scriptural reasons for the adjustment? (Prov. 4:18)"

w07 6/1 pp. 22-23 par. 9 - "...a Christian elder in his 80’s,...says, “I’m just absolutely in love with the truth, and I’m thrilled to see how the light of truth gets brighter and brighter.”

w87 5/15 p. 28 - "Similarly, spiritual light gets brighter for Jehovah’s people as time goes on."

    w81 12/1 p. 17 par. 3 - "But as the light gets brighter..."

w61 2/1 p. 80 par. 13 - "...we will study the Scriptures and keep up with the advancing understanding of the truth as its light gets brighter and brighter."

That scripture is not about doctrine, WT misuses this scripture.

Proverbs 4:18 says, "But the path of the righteous....grows brighter and brighter as the Faithful Slave gets ever increasing new light from Jehovah until full daylight."

The author describes a Father and Mother sharing a life of wisdom with their son. There is no hierarchical church or everchanging doctrine anywhere.

It's quite likely that WT elite have already started distancing themselves from Proverbs 4:18.

Proverbs 4:18 has been WT's get out of jail pass for decades and decades for the tons of times they've gotten Biblical understanding wrong. The last mention that I can remember of WT's mention of Proverbs 4:18 was GB Jeffrey Winder's 1st talk of the 2023 Annual Meeting (entitled: "How The GB Arrive At New Light"). Since then with the high volume of changes that have taken place, I don't think WT has publicly made reference to Proverbs 4:18 as their usual go-to scripture. The August 2024 Watchtower Study magazine with it's many new doctrinal adjustments & changes makes no reference throughout the entire magazine to Proverbs 4:18.

They no doubt have gotten an earful over the years from Bible experts & intellectuals of how soo badly they've miss-applied the Proverb "New Light" scripture that the GB is ready to throw-in the towel & quit in defeat regarding this much coveted scripture.

So...me wonders if one day soon WT will be announcing to the rank and file why it's no longer proper to refer to Proverbs 4:18 when the need arises to explain and give a reason for a WT Governing Body doctrinal change, adjustment and/or refinement to Scriptural beliefs.

Remember that the faithful slave ( governing body) is " neither fallible or inspired therefore it can err when it comes to spiritual direction".

    Thats why!!!

Brighter or Changed (small quote who article is great)

Regularly, Watchtower light is not brighter, it is vastly different than the past

Proverbs 4 identifies that righteous people fare better than the wicked, and not prophetic of the Watchtower Society. However, let us entertain the idea that within this passage there is the prophetic foreshadowing that God progressively reveals truth to his people during the time of the end. This concept cannot apply to Watchtower history, as Watchtower doctrine has not refined but changed. Consider whether the following change is really a matter of doctrinal light getting lighter:

Nu-lite? I am still waiting to see the sun come up some morning and as it does so for the light from it to make several radical changes instead of the day just getting brighter. Brighter light in the morning has not ever, and will never make something change into something completely different as morning progresses.

All a person has to do is read the entire Chapter Four of the Book of Proverbs to see that the way the JWs apply verse 18 is wrong. As peacefulpete notes, Proverbs Chaper 4 has nothing whatsoever to do with doctrine.

This wording of "new light", " Jehovahs chariot on the move" is so wrong. New light indicates old light wrong, but if the Holy Spirit is giving them direction, why is it right or wrong now. Jehovah does not lie, and the Holy Spirit doesn't change his mind. That just indicates they do not know what they are talking about as the scripture says in revelation that not one word can be changed otherwise destruction.

How many people have been disfellowshipped because of "changes" that they could not live up to or swallow. The "generation" word, on last count had about 6 changes, "other sheep" "anointed" all changed several times. Can you imagine the only thing that hasn't changed is the two witness rule- and that is most disgusting of all.
