Send me a batch and I'll taste-test it.
I have recently bottled 5 gallons of apple wine *hic*
Making wine is straightforward, get yourself a copy of C. J. J. Berry - First Steps In Winemaking. It's a great book to get you started.
I'm getting very tempted into trying this too, because I'll have to either make my own cheap stuff or stop drinking........
Get one empty gallon glass jug, some Welch's grape juice, some sugar, some starter (a pinch of yeast will do), and one extra large (unused) condom and two quarts of gin. Put the juice the starter and the sugar in the jug and put the condom on and leave it in a warm spot. When the condom breaks, call in sick for one week, add the gin and drink it. Hick
Hey Wendy we've had a lot of success with the homemade. brew. We don't buy the wine kits we actually get the fresh wine juice in the 25 gallon pails. Where we just bring them home and put them in a warm place with a heat lamp and let them work like crazy for a couple of weeks and then carboy them for another couple of weeks until it clears and then bottle it and wait until it ages. Of course the aging process is not what you would normally expect it to be as we don't have the patience to wait for six months. I started brewing my batch in September and will have my new wine ready for xmas serving the bottles that I cork I will age. If it can last that long
p.s. If you need personal pointers send me a personal message and I can talk to you on the phone about it.
start a political thread. Nevermind, I thought you said ' whine'.
I'm going to get my hubby to post to you. He makes a great shiraz with Sth Australian grapes and has just sampled his latest brew and said it's the best ever.
Ozzie can confirm this as he and Mrs Ozzie sampled some (a few????/quite a few?????) of mr Bliss' brew and didn't seem to mind it at all!
Keep an eye here, I'll put pressure on him to respond.
Cheers Bliss
