JB Phillips wrote in his preface to Philemon that the slave's name Onesimus meant "useful" and it "explains the untranslatable pun in verse 11", where the text of the Phillips translation/ paraphrase says "Yes I have become a father though I have been under lock and key, and the child's name is -- Onesimus! Oh, I know you have found him useless in the past but he is going to be useful now, to both of us. I am sending him back to you..."

I don't think all commentators have agreed, but I would like to think Paul included that pun to lighten the mood and to bring a smile to his reader's face.

Acts 19:13-16 Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to expel evil spirits.."We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches", the evil spirit answered "Jesus I know and Paul I know but who the hell are you"..The evil spirit leaped on them, over powered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of the house naked and wounded..You can't make this sh--t up, it must be true..LOL

Humour is a great teaching tool, every unexpected biblical outcome is humorous,

May be the Mona Lisa is smiling, reading the bible?

I think the humour lies in the amount of Bible Commentaries ,Dictionaries ,Translations ,Theological discussions , Hebrew scholars ,Greek Scholars ,Jewish Scholars ,35000+ Christian sects and denominations in the world today :

    AND GOD IS MUTE. ......?

As if imperfect humans who havent got a clue needs to speak for the creator ? who obviously cant speak for himself ?

And by the way he doesnt correct any of these multiple conflicting theories/interpretations /translations etc,of anything he is supposed to have overseen in Gods word the Bible.

If thats not funny I dont know what is.

It seems the bible is against humor. Look at the following passages.

Ecclesiastes 2:2 I said of laughter, “It is mad,” and of pleasure, “What use is it?”

    Ephesians 5:

Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving

Maybe that's why I used to write smart remarks and bad words in my bible.

The funniest part is...wait for it.....wait for it.....

That EVERY group that claims to follow the bible think they alone can accurately understand it!

The story of Saul going into a cave to "ease nature" ("relieve himself" in the current NWT), and David, egged on by his men to take the opportunity to kill Saul while he is taking a $h!t, decides to prank him instead, by lopping off the edges of Saul's sleeveless coat.

    1 Samuel 24:2-5

So Saul took 3,000 men chosen from all Israel and went to look for David and his men on the rocky cliffs of the mountain goats. 3 Saul came to the stone sheepfolds along the road, where there was a cave, and he went in to relieve himself* while David and his men were sitting in the recesses at the back of the cave.+ 4 David’s men said to him: “This is the day on which Jehovah is saying to you, ‘Look! I am giving your enemy into your hand,+ and you can do to him whatever seems good to you.’” So David rose up and quietly cut off the edge of Saul’s sleeveless coat.
