Not much, we were always too poor to give much.

I started giving financially when I started working. Hence, within 17 years span:

~ 4,080$ to the congregations I attended.

~ 600$ to the World Wide Work

~ 1,000$ for the conventions.

If I try to ball park my volonteer time since baptized at age 13 (span of 22 years):

~ 4,000 hours of field service

~ 400 hours of vonlonteer work (Security, maintenance work, construction work)

~ 1,300 hours congregation activities (managing territories, magazines, small app to manage time, etc) *outside meeting hours.

~ 5,000 hours in meeting attendance

Never had a lot - but it tailed off to almost nothing even before I started to wake up.

When I did wake up - obviously nothing.

50 a month at the hall I attended and two company cheques for 750 ea. for hall builds / renovations. 35 per convention and approx 20 each time I went to the assembly hall.

I was in and active about 8 years, burned myself out ( easily manipulated )

When I was full in in '00-'03 at my first hall up north in the Laurentians we were a young and dynamic group that bumped up the membership over 80 for a while. Their finances had never been so good. Eventually it dissipated and I'd guess at last half of us are now completely gone, faded DF or DA. Last I heard they are barely hanging on at 40 people.

Try to control people and treat them like crap that's what you get..

THE BETHELITE:

Reading all the posts, the consensus of opinion is that the religion takes and gives NOTHING except maybe the equivalent of blowing a kiss!

You shouldn’t be surprised JWs are ‘cheap’. Ex-bethelites and others feel they gave their time and their life and got nothing..What about those who weren’t bethelites or pioneers but instead were in the workforce and were considered ‘unspiritual’? These people were the recipients of hateful attitudes and shunning in the congregations. I was one of those people.

Also, a poster here made a point about all the kingdom halls that were ripped out from under the people and sold to pay off lawsuits. What about all the money the rank & file Witnesses contributed for the upkeep and renovations to these buildings? I don’t even need to go into JWs who are struggling because of believing faulty teachings and who never got a decent job or career!

50 month to local, never to big bro. The assembly has the machines which are not up all the time so it is easy to forget.

Related, how many times did you get roped into Feeding the speaker? I used to deduct whatever I was coerced into from the box money. At times I could bare fed myself

I was Baptized in 1997. Durng those times, we had to purchase books and magazines from the KH and sell them for a price during the FS in India.

I used to purchase but gave it free for the poor people during the FS. Apart from that my regular donations during every meeting and a fat amount during conventions.

My PIMI wife still donates. That is the hardest part for me now.

I have to be honest I gave $100 a month to the WWW and $100 to the Local Congregation Expenses $100 to every convention/assembly. (For over 15 years)

I honestly did it to lower my taxable income and nothing else. When I found out about the CSA lawsuits and was PIMO I stopped all together...

I'd gladly donate that amount each month if it helped burn that bitch of an org to the ground. F that cult...
