In just two years' time, 2025 we will celebrate the fact of the biblical significance of 1975 with the passing of its Jubilee of 50 years which according to accurate Bible Chronology proved 7000 years of human existence from Adam's creation in 4026 BCE. In earlier times, Chronologists such as the venerable Irish Anglican prelate Archbishop James Ussher (1581-1656) had calculated 4004 BCE for the creation of Adam. This date has been subsequently corrected by 'celebrated WT scholars from Pastor Charles Russell's day to 1963 as 4026 BCE.
Such scholars speculated that 1975 could also coincide with the beginning of the seventh period of a thousand years - a sabbath period of rest and release as a great Jubilee sabbath. Such an event would fittingly fit into or coincide with. Jehovah's God's creative week of 'seven days' with its seventh day thought to have been of 7000 years in length according to Jewish tradition.
For me, 1975 and its attendant 4026 BCE as the date of Adam's creation demonstrates the accuracy of Bible Chronology as opposed to many other schemes of Chronology proposed by scholars in Christendom. It has stood the test of time, especially with regard to many of its significant dates such as the dates for the Divided Monarchy, the Fall of Jerusalem in 607 BCE, the Jewish Exile, the date of the Exodus and events in the life of our dear sweet Lord, Jesus Christ.

blondie, the WT, not even in Russell's time, said each of the creative days were 6,000 years long. Until a time in the 1980s they said they each were 7,000 years long. They had said that 1975 CE would mark 6,000 years (since the creation of Adam) into the 7th day (the day of rest), though they later said the 7th day didn't start till after Eve was created. Until sometime in the 1980s they had said that each creative day, including the the seventh day (the day of rest), was 7,000 years long (with the future 1,000 year portion of the reign of Christ being the final portion of the seventh day) - not 6,000 years long.
I was baptized in the early 1980s and I am thus well aware the WT wrote of 7,000 year long creative days instead of 6,000 year long creative days. If the WT did ever write each day was 6,000 years long (instead of 7,000 years long), it must have been a typo on their part.

Some 5 years after the embarrassing date of 1975, Watchtower did an about-face with a semi-apology -- noting that "published [by Watchtower] statements that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possiblity. It is to be regretted ..."
Note the passive voice "it is to be regretted" instead of the active voice "we regret". The weak passive voice apology is about as strong as we'll ever hear from Watchtower.
. . . considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. There were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility. Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, there were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility. It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated. WT Mar 15, 1980 p 17
Therefore, in my opinion, Watchtower took the year 1975 off the table 43 years ago.

I think the WT dropped the Adam-Eve creation gap explanation a year or two after 1975.
They didn't announce it, of course,
They just stopped mentioning it and hoped the 1975 fiasco would fade away.

How long is the 7th Creative (rest) day?
Paul refers to it as ongoing 2k+ years ago. With the symbolism of 7 in the Bible, God’s rest appears to be 7000 years long( so persuasive!). 1975 still marks end of 6000 years from the creation of Adam. The 1000 year slot that Scholar highlighted is left for the Millennium. The gap for the creation of Eve must be less than 1000 years given a 7000 year rest. Scholar highlighted plausibility of 50 years in 2025–also a grand Jubilee ( the creation of Eve!) 50 years after the creation of Adam in 1975. It would add up. Given the millennium would begin in 2025 means that the GT must begin before the Jubilee starts if the Jubilee symbolizes the start of the Millennium.
WT always referred to the end of the 6000 years which as scholar highlighted is 7k years
