First off there is no known event from the Bible that has happen in our lifetime. Anything that is claimed to have happen Biblical only shows the Bible to be a history book.

If the Bible proves to be true, meaning a divinely written book, then it does not matter what/when something in the past happened if it is before our present lifetime. It only matters pertaining to the Bible what happens presently/future, which at this point the Bible has not proving to be reliable in predicting events.

That said, and if by chance the Bible is true, and events will at some point happen, there is no reason to care about understanding Daniel (or other books). It is meaningless because they either pertain to the past which has already happen and if there is anything future about them, then Revelation covers them all.

It's pointless to talk about the 8th king (of Rev) and also about the KOTN (of Daniel), etc...

At this point there is no 8th king that has been given 42 months of power by the existing nations. Until that happens there is nothing Biblically ever going to happen in one's lifetime...NO GT, NO turning on BTG, NO Jesus coming, No Armageddon...

Biblical scholars have Daniel written around 165 BCE so written after many of the events recorded so not a book of prophecy.

So it has no meaning for us today.

    Vidqun:

Jeffro, it is impossible to fit Dan. 11:40-45 into the reign of Antiochus.

It clearly isn’t, because I have done so.

It is rather predictive prophecy, deferred to the end time, some future time.

Despite the hyperbolic, open ended and superstitious phrasing in Daniel (typical of the apocalyptic genre), the time period discussed in Daniel is well known to culminate in the restoration of Jerusalem’s temple in 165 BCE and Antiochus’ subsequent death. (Sources vary regarding placement of the period of desolation from 167-164 or 168-165; 165 BCE fits the Seleucid years better.) But you’re welcome to keep chasing your tail with fantasies.

Towards the close of 164 BCE, he died at Tabea, Persia. During the last year of his life he pursued obscure campaigns against Armenia and the Parthians, and was killed ingloriously when attempting to loot a temple of ‘Anaitis’ in the Elymais.

Thus, the following passage cannot apply to Antiochus, for he died of illness: "And he shall pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, with none to help him." (Dan. 11:45 ESV)

Furthermore, according to Keil and Delitzsh: "But since the king here spoken of is not Antiochus, this historizing interpretation falls of itself to the ground. There is further with justice objected against it, that at the time of Antiochus the nation of Moab no longer existed. After the Exile the Moabites no longer appear as a nation."

"He shall become ruler of the treasures of gold and of silver, and all the precious things of Egypt, and the Libyans and the Cushites shall follow in his train." (Dan. 11:43 ESV) If he did get his hands on all the treasures of Egypt, it would not have been necessary for him to raid temples to the north. The Cushites (black tribes) and Libyans (Arab tribes) did not follow in his train either.

I’ve already explained to you that hyperbole is part of the genre. Daniel is religious propaganda, not a crystal ball. It’s time to let go. 🤦‍♂️

Towards the close of 164 BCE, he died at Tabea,

Yes. Tabae. East of Syria. Antiochus attacked Egypt (verse 40) then also attacked Jerusalem (41) but went to fight to the east and north-Parthia and Armenia (44) while he left his representatives in charge against the Maccabees but he died (45). Just like Daniel 11::40-45 says (minus the symbolic window dressing and exaggeration).

How about this: The King of the North has been Trump, it was Trump this whole time. Think about it: he has been a celebrity rich person with tentacles into the UN through his NY and and worldwide real estate holdings pretty much since the ending of the Cold War. He’s a singular person and not a list of ever changing figure heads like the US Government. He is about to bring about real peace and security and he has supernatural protections from bullets and assassinations.

Anony Mous, at one time around 2020, some "Christian" religions suggested Trump was the Antichrist.

    LOL!

The KOTN is called the Disgusting Thing.

    Donald Trump

[ 31 And arms will stand up, proceeding from him; and they will profane the sanctuary, the fortress, and remove the constant feature. “And they will put in place the disgusting thing that causes desolation.32 “And those who act wickedly against the covenant, he will lead into apostasy by means of smooth words. But the people who know their God will prevail and act effectively...36 The king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt himself and magnify himself above every god; and against the God of gods he will speak astonishing things. And he will prove successful until the denunciation comes to a finish; because what is determined must take place. 37 He will show no regard for the God of his fathers; nor will he show regard for the desire of women or for any other god, but he will magnify himself over everyone.]

The way i see it in 2025 rhe king of the south is the United States and the king on the North is Russia, they both have a role to play when it comes to the land of Israel although Rissia's power and it's allies in the area has greatly diminished. Both will come to their end by a third leader the Antichrist who will rise in the Middle East and resurrect the Muslim Caliphate at the time of the End ,that gas been the dream of every Muslim since their last caliphate came to an End because of infighting. This ruler is not Trump or Putin.
