"What is the spin that the organization is using to justify this downsizing? "

A family member (uber dub) told us it is "to make better use of donated funds."

My question (just thoughts to myself): "Well, what has Watchtower been doing with our funds for over 140 years? Why do they need to make better use of funds? Have they been mishandling the JW's hard earned money?"

When you shine a light on cockroaches or rodents, they will scurry and hide. Same thing here. If you shine a light on all that is wrong, the critter (WT) will run and hide. They will gather as much money as they can, sell off all the kingdumb Halls and go online. Their example of hunkering down in attics and basements goes completely against what we were raised with back in the day. "Boldness and standing erect because your deliverance is near." Really Watchtower? You all are now telling members to hide. Just like those critters who can't stand the light shining on them!!!

Watchtower is scared and nervous. They are getting exactly what they deserve.

HOW DOES IT FEEL WATCHTOWER, TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE JUDICIAL TABLE?

    Karma is a bitch.

    TOES UP:

With regard to JWs hunkering down in attics or basements: this requires that somebody own a house in the first place! Or do all these idiots believe they are going over Brother Wealthy’s house? He better own an estate!

Seriously:..if Witnesses are told to pursue poverty, do housecleaning and pioneer, they wouldn’t have two nickels to rub together - let alone buy a house. IF they inherited a house they would find it next to impossible to even hold onto it - even if they were eating beans and going to thrift shops! Also, what about maintaining a car?

The people in the religion who write these articles don’t even have a nodding acquaintance with reality and how the world works!

Posting for a member of the board:----Petra!

I wanted to answer Spiral on the percentage loss. Thank you! Spaghetti with vodka sauce and a good Chianti to you! Here's a link to the post for easy clicking: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6245029520605184/dissolved-congregations-minneapolis-st-paul Here's my English percentage research: In the talks they gave in early November (uggh, doozy) they said 75 congregations were involved. However, I know they went very far out, like an hour to hour and a half drive.

The people in the farthest out congregation (Cong X) that I know, do not know of ANY changes (but they don't go much, good for them). WT elders might have just moved some people into or out of that congregation. If we take their word for it, that would be 13/75 or 17.3% reduction in 2020.

However, a couple years ago they dissolved six. 19/81 is 23.4% in just about 4 years. When I went back to my pdfs from JW.Borg find a meeting from 2017 and tried to figure out how many are actually in Mpls/St.Paul Metro I stop at 48. Cong #49 and 50 are Rockford, MN and one in Hudson Wisconsin.

They said they did not go into Wisconsin for this re-org. Then cong X is number 55. So, then it would be 13/48 or 27.0%. Adding the six they got rid of a couple years ago that is 19/54 or 35.1%.

NOTE: JW.Borg changed the find a meeting soon after I printed/saved those PDFs. The lists I have would start with the closest halls and progressively go farther out in a sort of ring. Anyone remember when they did that? There has been a lot of gerrymandering for lack of a better word, re-assigning people. Remember when they just gave a talk to say "Go to the hall in your territory"?

Not anymore, now it's more one on one. CONTROL, at least from WT. An elder might try to be more lenient, but they have little wiggle room. They seem to want people to be unfamiliar with each other. The four dissolved Spanish congregations is 4/15 or 26.6%. I don't know if they got rid of any Spanish before 2017, darn.

We know all the dissolved congregations in Minneapolis/St. Paul now:

The 15 that are listed there Atlantis/Petra ,over what period of time were they disolved ?

    1 year ? 2 , 5 , 10 ? or more ?

    just curious.

    smiddy3:

Good question! Perhaps the person who asked me to post this topic will send me more information.

    Atlantis, thank you!

That kind of shrinkage sounds HUGE.

I think anyone - even the most devoted JW - would see this happening and understand that things are going downhill fast.

Even their own calculation of 17.3% decrease (best case scenario) in just one year is huge.

So I'm thinking that this frees up lots of real estate that they can sell, besides the KH on a superfund site. (And how does THAT happen, anyway?)

And what's going to happen to the assembly halls in areas where publisher counts are shrinking? Wait - more real estate to sell!

Woodbury? That wouldn't happen to be there on Century BLVD in Oakdale?

For smiddy3 and Spiral, from a member of the board that wanted to provide more info.

    That person writes:

I goofed! Also, want to be clear about time frame. Could you post just one more time to the Dissolve Congregations Mpls postings? Many thanks. I hope this is the last and thank you very much.

    11 (not 13) english dissolved in 2020 : 11/75 or 14.6% 17 (not 19) english dissolved from 2016-2020 :17/81 or 20.9%

    More accurate metro area: 11/48 english dissolved in 2020 : 11/48 or 22.9% 11/54 english dissolved from 2016-2020 : 17/54 or 31.4%

    For Smiddy: 11 English in 2020, 4 Spanish in 2020, 2019, 2018 or 2017. I assume 2020 because they re-orged them too.

Spiral: Most people do not know about how many are dissolved. It is a bit of a hush hush topic! They have been trained form the talks and videos to not mention it and only talk about the positives of having more elders and variety of talks (boring speakers).

They don't even send a list to people that need it to do the cult work, and they have to call around. Maybe they'll say "good thing we don't have to hear so and so as often". And I asked the person that told me about the superfund site "Why did we build there?" "Where was the Holy Spirit?". It's a crazy making Narcissistic Cult.

Also, there aren't any assembly halls in MN.

Reply to them - "The Holy Spirit must be with true followers of Jesus Christ and not Governing Bodies."
