Can you top this example of JW corruption?

If you are a former JW elder, can you share any examples of corruption which you personally witnessed that were kept secret from the congregation? Following is an account from a longtime elder named Tommy who recently disassociated.

The minor daughter of a presiding elder in a West Texas congregation committed fornication with a 19-year old baptized Witness in her father’s home. The daughter had to confess to a judicial committee which included the aforementioned Tommy. Tommy felt that while the girl seemed sufficiently repentant, she should be publicly reproved and her father should be deleted as an elder; however, the other two committee members overruled him, insisting that the reproof be private and that her father be allowed to maintain his position in the congregation.

Since the girl was 16–thus a minor–and the young man was 19, Tommy insisted that the matter be reported to the local police. The Branch was consulted and directed the elders to report the matter to the police. The father refused to press charges, thus the police took no action toward the young man, who, incidentally lived in the home of his father who was an elder in another city.

Tommy and the other committee members were told that the young man would face a judicial committee in his own congregation. However, the incident was never reported to the elders in the other congregation, nor was the young man’s father informed of the incident.

This story was related to me by a family member of the young girl and her father. He also happened to be a friend of the young man’s father and of Tommy, the elder who sat on the judicial committee.

One can only assume that the young man–who went on to marry the young girl–was advised by the girl’s father to keep his mouth shut, thereby allowing the father to maintain his position of power in the congregation and protecting the reputation of his family.

It was several years later that the young man’s father–who had subsequently been deleted as an elder and who had faded–was informed of these details. He consulted a couple of elders with whom he had served, and they confirmed that they were never apprised of the situation. He then talked with his son, who is serving abroad where the need is greater but who is having his own serious doubts. His son admitted to his father that the entire story is true.

Yes, I can top it. Millions of people are right now being deceived into thinking that very soon the sky is going to fall and they are going to enter into a cartoonish "new world" and live forever eating off picnic tables loaded with lovely fruit baskets.

Many have given up virtually their entire lives. Many have forgone having children and will die in nursing homes with no one to make sure the staff don't mistreat them. Many are suffering now financially because of having been JWs. And on and on and on.

The org has used and is using propaganda, deception, and cult techniques to steal lives.

I don't think I can top it. We had the son of the PO screwing around before he applied for Bethel and making the girl promise not to talk. After he was in NY for about a year she came forward and confessed because it was so bothering her conscious. The PO's son was a MS at Bethel by then. They bumped him out and he was eventually DF'd. Not so much corruption on the part of the congregation until you take into account that he was caught with porn and smoking pot before he left for NY and it never came out. The other three guys were all reproved. Just another day in paradise.

It is such stories which confirm that holy spirit has nothing to do with the appointment of elders.

It also confirms that God is not real to those taking the lead and they cannot believe that God sees all that they do.

    One can only assume ...

It's hard for me to classify something as "corruption" when elders "break rules" that shouldn't even be rules in the first place!

Sounds like two teenagers had sex and later got married. Doesn't seem astoundingly corrupt to me.

I knew of a ministerial servant who stole around £500 from congregation funds and got a private reroof. I was surprised they didn't have better systems in place to catch that but maybe it happens all the time,

Seems pretty small scale compared to what happened at the publishers of The Christadelphian magazine, Apparently the editor of the magazine stole funds amounting to hundreds of thousands of pounds over many years, before he was caught. It's somewhat impressive actually that such a tiny denomination had enough funds to absorb that scale of theft unnoticed for years. It's quite an interesting story you can read about here:

I have no independent verification of the details given on that paragraph, other than simply that it seems to be documented and not particularly sensational. I find Christadelphians fascinating in lots of ways, both insider and outsider perspectives.

SBF, the ministerial servant who stole hundreds of pounds of funds from his congregation’s funds but ended up getting a “re-roof” is happifying proof that crime does pay!

Billions of people worship and pray to their GOD everyday many people believe their prayers have been answered by their GOD however nobody has ever proved or produced facts that this is the case with any evidence to prove it.

With prayers being answered all in the mind ,maybe that is where it should stay

As far as the OP is concerned if all that is true then the relevant authorities should be contacted with the relevant information

Fortunately I was never an elder, but I can share that I had sex with an elder who later was part of the JC who met with me about "my" (read "their") problem with being gay. I'd consider that elder corruption.
