Princess, I hope you reported your preivous shafting incident to the Ebay people. They want to stay a credible and reputable way of buying and selling. The crooks will be banned from selling on ebay again if you let them know.

He didn't do anything wrong. Just made a humongous profit. Anyway, it might be counterproductive to turn him in right now.

    Hi Princess,

I did a little search on scalping just to see how that word is now viewed. It seems there is much talk about it in various places and is controlled to some degree in some places. There are places which require brokers who can only ..re-sale tickets.

I see it as no different than buying and selling anything. If I buy a roll of carpet for $6.00 per yard......and sell it to you for $9.00 per yard.......am I scalping, or simply doing sales?

If people are willing to pay a price for something, and they get what they pay for.........then what's the problem?

The big issue is........many who want to see a show cannot, because of those who buy in volume to re-sale have caused a "sold out" situation pre-maturely.......and that ticks many off.

Now then...........come june......I'd sure like it if you posted a nice "close up" shot of the concert, of Shania in those shinny tight pants if ya don't mind!

    Hi Princess

I paid $150 per seat from a gal who had a striking resemblance to Shania for one of her up-coming concerts. She had advertised in a community newspaper, the seats are terrific and I could not buy them on line or through ticket master as all the decent seats sold out in less than an hour.

I was nervous about the tickets but after seeing the Shania look alike I somehow forget all my inhibitions and reservations.

She told me that she gets advanced buying privledges and usually buys for every concert she thinks is a sure sell out and makes around 10K a year tax free money which helps out around the house.

Hope you enjoy the show, I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting rid of the tickets.

Rachel, even if you end up not being able to sell them on ebay, you have plenty of family, several of whom will likely buy them from you at face value.

    * mom drops a subtle hint that if they don't sell.....she will buy them but not at a penny more than daughter paid for them*

Now that was a classic mom!

I'm not worried about it. I'm sure I can make a tidy profit on Ebay. If not, I can come up with a special deal for family members. Convenience charge added of course.

Princess, I don't know if what you are doing qualifies as "scalping" but if so, I've heard that people are "selling" a bag of cookies on E-Bay for large sums of money and giving free tickets as inducement.

morty, eBay's nothing to be afraid of. I've been buying all my clothes, jewelry and Christmas presents from eBay for the past 2-3 years.
