While i agree that private property rights are under attack, there was a play here. While there was an eviction moratorium there was also a mortgage moratorium as well. There was no financial qualification necessary, the owner simply had to claim a hardship. Its imperfect but owners did have some financial relief if renters didnt pay.

First of when the gov tell someone who owns and rents private property that they can not collect rent and can not evict its a grab at private property. When the Gov tells you you can do what is legal with your own property they are taking control of it. I had at one time seven homes I rented out. I had some dead beats who were just in it to see how long they can get free rent. Every place I see has bonuses up to 300 for just signing on to work. So don't tell me this bull shit that some poor bastard can not pay the rent because there are no jobs. That is total bull shit and you don't know shit from shinola about business. A land lord or property owner pays taxes, Insurance, repairs and the bank plus interest every month. There is no moratorium for the property owners. This is a private property grab. Its also illegal. Its totally unconstitutional and the court has already ruled that the CDC can not do this in any event. The dems break the law and look the other way as if its just fine. As far as a mortgage moratorium its not a mortgage, No property owner wants to get close to that, that just means if you are not able to pay your personal home payment they can not foreclose but once its lifted its going to be taken. No land lord is going to let his property go back to the bank just to not pay the payment. Not to mention its nor for land lords its for home owners. So you know nothing if you think that its for rent property's. The next thing is do you bleeding hearts think that once the moratorium is lifted that there will not be a rash of land lords booting out these dead beats? This is a trial run to just get rid of private property rights. If you don't see it you are ignorant or lying.

Do you really think a land lord is going to just forgive all these months of back rent? Anyone in business will boot out a dead beat who got a year of free rent. Not to mention if they can not pay the rent for a month what the hell makes you bleeding hearts think they can suddenly afford a years back rent? I learned a long time ago to sell my mobile home rentals and invested in middle income condos near the beach and then when someone that said do you take section 8 I said yes and threw their application in the trash. As I took the app I said two things. One was there is someone who has first dibs ahead of you, even if there were not at the moment. Second is that they would have to pass a criminal and financial back ground check. This would make 80 percent walk away. The condos I owned in Florida were gated and even if I did not do a criminal and financial BGC the condo association did. Then I had a 100 dollar application fee non refundable. We did not have any trouble with section 8 low life scum

The free ride via the government is over.

Some of the out and out stupid comments here about how the poor people have no place to live. LMAO WTF do they think Landlords just rake it in and busting holes in the wall to put the cash? What a Joke. I ran one rental a condo about two miles from Siesta Key in Sarasota. The dues to the association believe it or now were 469 a month. Insurance was about 1300 a year, Up keep for the first year was several thousand, new granite counter tops, new dishwasher, Microwave paints and a top to bottom cleaning. Several small issues had to be fixed. After all the monthly payments were made I had maybe 3 to 400 left over for emergency's. I don't know what would have happened if that retard drooling idiot were in office then and this crap was going on. Dumbocraps know crap all about business and it shows every day. We need these morons out of office.

The government has no right to give away other people's money and property.

If it was about genuinely helping the unfortunate, that would be one thing, but you know it is abused and you see it appearing now in episodes of Judge Judy, where someone has been working and just decides they don't need to pay rent.

What about the income of the people who invested in property? Do they get to not pay their bills and taxes?

It's about buying votes, and the work-shy and feckless tend to vote dem.

Owning property is bad. They’re just creating problems like housing shortages that way they can swoop in and solve the problem.

That is how they did it in California and now the government owns approximately 1M units in what once was highly desirable locations (they pay premium on $250k+ housing units, driving the cost up) while assisting more than a million people with rent and they want to shore that up by developing 2M public housing units.

The free ride via the government is over.

There never should have been a "free" ride. People seem to forget the saying, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch." SOMEONE is paying for the "free" stuff that the left seems to always give away, courtesy of the employed hard working man or woman, to what is normally the professional users.

If one chooses to live beyond their means and not save a dime for the future that is not my fault, it is not the responsibility of anyone else to bail them out!

Call me hard hearted, I had a belly full of the chronic users in the JW world who could always find enough for a new smartphone, a new car, or getting a new credit card; then they whined, pissed, and moaned about how unfair Satan's world was when the bills came due and they had no savings set aside for a rainy day to fall back on and believed it was their due to get looked after.

I have very little sympathy for most people who cannot pay rent.
