Here in the UK new drinking guidelines have been issued which suggest "no more than 14 units a week - equivalent to six pints of beer or seven glasses of wine."
Another piece of the advice which is getting a lot of attention is that "if people drink, it should be moderately over three or more days and that some days should be alcohol-free."
Already people are making cries of "Nanny State!" It isn't, it's just advice which you are free to ignore but that advice to have several alcohol free days a week is what caught my attention.
Do people really need to be told this?
I'm no saint, I certainly had more than was good for me on New Years Eve but I don't like drunkenness and will rarely have more than a couple of beers or a double Scotch if out for a drink. I could go weeks without alcohol and wouldn't even notice it.
How about you?
