Recently, some activists decided to interrupt a train that was delivering coal. Police were called and 10 hours later the activists were dispersed. It’s not unusual now to see picketers close down a bridge or a street for “climate change “.
Do you think activists should just be allowed to do this type of stuff without real penalties??

This kind of question is quite polarising. I usually avoid them.
I mean, I get where these people are coming from and have felt that passionate myself about things in the past. Probably pioneering for Jehovah(tm).

I don't think 'activism' should be exempt from the law.
Protests should be conducted within the law and in co-operation with the police/authorities.
The problem is these 'activists' seem to inconvenience or penalise normal law abiding citizens that probably have a lower carbon footprint that they do. Those they are trying to reach cannot be reached.
Probably why some at the station in London got a bit of a twatting. I do not condone violence but I get why people were miffed by the Extinction Rebellion bunch.

Make them actually live within the bounds of their beliefs. No plastics, no medicines except local herbs, keep the cow in the house for heat, no fresh food in wjnter, walk, outhouse.
Im reality there was a lot of trading through history, herbs were used for medicine, and not just locally. Flint was imported to areas where it could not be found. The list goes on.... at some point we have gotten too far away from some of this

I agree, they have no idea. Crazy vegan climate wackos screaming for an end to coal mining on our streets. We use coal to make steel among many things, it doesn’t get burned for fun.
Try growing enough food for a small community and see how it goes without plastics. The amount of plastic needed in agricultural might surprise Greta, perhaps we should we ban agricultural products, the strawberries grown in my state require vast acres of plastic to cover the ground, they need large plastic tanks for herbicides and pesticides.
This is why I’m no longer eating fruits, vegetables, grains, no meat, dairy or nuts, just insects from outside my carbon neutral mud igloo.
The disrupters should be hosed with water cannons. Then they would HAVE to disperse.

I agree with comments above, most of these people have no idea what life with no modern materials and equipment looks like.
I think they'll wash off with a good jet-wash and a hard-scrub.
