Did the Fred Franz style of writing cease after he died?

    Vienne,

As a matter of interest, I believe the writer you are referring to was dismissed from Bethel service for breaking an engagement. It was a sad story and an act of passion and foolishness on his part. The 1975 change on breaking engagements was put into place because of him.

This "new writer" is a fascinating concept. Why on Earth 🌍 would they pick a single writer to try and fill Franz's shoes. And why one who seems to have been so unlike him*? Was his dismissal the reason for the writing department, or did that already exist in some form? If it already existed, why find one golden haired boy to replace Fred?

    * My thumbnail projection would be the usual: he ticked the right boxes not related specifically to writing, and he sucked up to the right people in the right way.

    Yikes! Nothing like post hijackers.

Aqua seed the Greeks had an ancient and interesting theology. Great temples. Why not go on a tangent about them? Why not discuss the meaning of Santa Claus and the real number of buttons on his coat?

Simon: Any chance we can get this Catholic apologist banned off of here? I see their wall of text like I see a WatchTower article now; like Charlie Brown's teacher, "Whomp whomp whomp whomp" and I kind of start drifting off to sleep.

    BOR-INNNNGGG!!!

Writers of 1970's: Fred Franz was the most influential, but by the 70's others had stepped in to help him. Ray Franz, Ed Dunlap (Commentary of James) and many others. So of course the style and prose of the literature was different depending on the piece and if they had written it more themselves or as a committee of group or authors overseen by the Writing Committee. I'd the 50's - 60's really reeked of Fred Franz's ranting types and anti-types prophetic nonsense.

It would be fun to create a Ask Fred Franz AI chatbox.

At work we do so with retired advisors.

Don't tempt the fates! I have no doubt that AI can generate a 10,000+ word dissertation on just that topic, if asked.

For what it’s worth I’m not in favour of banning aqwsed it seems like an overreaction. I’m not in favour of banning anyone unless they post something obscene or really disrupt the forum. It’s not that difficult to just ignore his posts if you’re not interested in his posts. And some people do appreciate and like his posts.

It would be nice if we had an "Ignore contributor" button.

But no, we shouldn't ban him. We're a mental health outlet for him. He's suffering from a form of ambivalence.

We can skip his posts if we want. That's what the page down button does.

On an unrelated topic, High School Seniors are not quite human.

"ahem. in the era and place Nicholas lived, they had no buttons."

    Good point 👉

But it's creating the possibility of another thread diversion... 😱
