For some reason I have always liked candles, I used to melt them when I was a kid and make other ones from the melted wax.

So I was at the German Canadian Christmas Market this weekend and they have these candles that open up when they burn. I was going to buy one last year but didn't but am glad I got one this year.

Has anyone ever had one of these before?

No I have never seen them before they look like neat candles though. Wonder how they get them to open up like that.

    hey Beans,

I am a big candle lover as well..I have never seen a candle like that one before...Where do I get one of them, without going through another country? Do they come in all kinds of colors and scents?

    Mortons68,

Every year a group from Germany comes to Toronto at Nathan Phillips Square for the German Canadian Christmas Market, they have a booth there and will be there until the 21st I believe.

50 euro is $50 american, I paid $30 Canadian for a large candle about 14" tall, good deal eh!

Yeah, there's something unique and almost magical about candles isn't there?

I like scented candles. I had one, that smelled like wintergreen when it burned. Oh it smelled lovely.

That was an interesting post Beans. Definitely worth checking out, and better yet, that the German entourage will be here in Toronto, displaying their crafts.

    Lovely!

**PS: to add, so glad they're already here, and the hours suit even a nighthawk like me. Thanks for the info Beans.

Back in the 70"s......I once had this truly awesome frog candle that beckoned my friendship by virtue of swirling hues of green and turquoise which, upon kissing wick with bic, began birthing fountainous flames that caressed and rolled across the ceiling to prove a point I was on the edge of discovering (without friend frogs assistance, I might interject).........resulting in the evacuation of my speaker cords thus revealed to be asps in the heat of that moment.

I've yet to come again upon a candle as magnificent as this in all the years since and, there have been many a waxmelt 'tween then and now.......but, then, I,ve not heard the soft flavor of vanilla nor visually observed the wondrous smell of laughter in as many years either............

mac, of the still crosses his t's but, sometimes misses microdotting his i's in blue class
