What is the best debate you've ever read on this board...

I liked the debates of few years ago regarding 607 vs 587, and obviously we know who the losers were. Those debates made me take a closer look at subjects that I hardly knew anything about, religion, archaeology, history of antiquity, the Bible. Many great apostates back then who no longer write here. Leolaia being the most remarkable of all. Her erudition was one of a kind, and yet it was accompanied by an unpretentious demeanor. Rarely do you find people like that. She won every single time, even though I doubt that she attempted to debate and win. She just knew and shared. -

Whether or not me and Hypnosis were real people. I believe that was on the first thread I posted.
We both wound up meeting with coffee_black to prove we weren't the same people, lol.
I look back on it now as so silly, but, it felt pretty serious at the time because of the whole Trevor situation. Anybody remember that???

Actually, scratch that. The whole thing with Ceders was the biggest debate, or maybe, argument on here. I think somebody got outted on FaceBook because of it. It was a WARZONE on here...
The Trevor thing was apparently a huge thing on here also. Apparently, he faked an illness and had people sending money to him or something. But, that was right before my time here but the board was still really pissed off/sensitive because of it...

I don't ever remember reading the Trevor thing, but I do remember that Cedars fiasco. I generally like debates on controversial topics but the Cedars thing was so much more than an academic debate. It was real - people's lives were at risk of being screwed up.

It wasn't a debate as such but I remember, as a lurker, reading a thread (sorry, I can't remember the poster's name ) that had a flow chart about God's existence in the OP.
This poster put his name and the date at the bottom, like a copyright. It was a good flow chart. There were a few messages saying 'thank you', 'well done' 'masterful use of logic', etc until another poster pipes up (sorry, can't remember their name either ) and points out that this logic was devised by a certain Greek philosopher (name?!) so the copyright should go.
It wasn't much of a debate but it was funny ...

OnTheWayOut's original post:
Can anyone really "WIN" a debate on the internet?
It's typically a bunch of one-sided digs and "Who got in the best zinger?"
But if they can win, an atheist won the best argument on this forum.

You didn't copy and paste my comment. It's changed slightly. I am not sure if you are trying to improve or correct my original post, whether you agree or disagree. It feels like you are on the verge of starting the best debate every on this board.

I remember a debate some years ago, when this Site was JWD, between Alan F and a believing JW or two, good old Alan demolished everything thrown at him.
The debates I really enjoyed were between believing JW's and Leolaia and a French XJW (name escapes me, but he Translated the NWT into French I believe) on the one hand, and on the other some believing JW's, one who had the temerity to call himself "Scholar", and a few others.
Of course Leo and the French guy (Narkosi???) wiped the floor with the Dubs.
Tremendously informative stuff, and well worth a look !

IMO what happens on forums usually isn't a fair debate so I try not to take them too seriously.
If on the other hand, bullying somone into not posting, or pushing someones buttons on a hot-button issue is "winning" a forum debate then there are so many threads, not enough time to pick a favorite.
