Of course, an appeal to the EHCR may be positive in the way that the ACR was positive, even if WT won. It would showcase everything to do with disfellowshipping to a broader audience.

Freedom of Religion isn't absolute.
In fact the court ruled that when there was a conflict between freedom of religion and protection of children, that protection of children is the more important right.
Sounds like a thoughtful decision to me.

" Sounds like a thoughtful decision to me."
It is, and is line with many Court's views that Human Rights always overrule religious rules and practice.
Something the G.B needs to get in to their thick heads.

The JW's will use their new DF on minors change to show they changed the policy and get their status back in Norway.

Well, I hope they deservedly FAIL ! a mere cosmetic change does not comply with Human Rights.

What NotFormer said.
Just like with all the CSA court cases in the US, no matter what’s happens, they don’t come away looking like the good guys.

I will call it.
The Borg will keep on appealing all the way to the European supreme court.
Lose there too.
Cost untold millions of the $heeples money by appealing & spinning their tires in the sand.
And burn down their bridges with the countries in Europe.

Common sense would tell them to back away from the table, put up their hands, and walk away while they still have what they got.
Flogging a dead horse out of misguided pride is the kind of strategic blunder a True Believer makes because he can’t accept that he’s not invincible and destined to prevail.

At the end of the day, no matter how much the WT softens it's internal approaches to disfellowshipping and it's judicial processes, there is still an elephant in the room. UNTIL the WT comes out and outright states that elders and the WT has no dog in the fight where a crime has been committed, and that the police should be called up front, nothing substantial has changed. They are still acting like some sort of "government elect", rather than handing criminal matters to the correct authorities.

Everyone,,, elder & above has to know about this & has a margin of culpability.
Its kind of like if you're driving a car for someone. The passenger you are driving gets out at a convenience store and holds it up,,,even without you knowing whats happening.
Once you start driving away with the perpetrator,, you have incriminated yourself because you're now involved with the crime whether or not you know what just took place. You are now driving a get away vehicle. You are now seen as an accomplice.
This is whats happening in the kh's. Because the elders are covering up a crime whether or not they fully aware of it because,,,,of not reporting to the police.
