I swear, sometimes it feels like the Org is actually losing its marbles.

The simplest explanation I can think of is the “nightmare” stage of “Wishful Thinking”.

For those who haven’t, Google it. It’s a real eye-opener.

I never can tell if there is really some insidious 'master plan' at work, or if they are just totally clueless.

How can you not see the master plan? I'll be honest here. I have never considered myself much of a "religious man". I am more interested in business, acquiring wealth, and promulgating my family, children and future grand children.

I learned to reverse engineer things if I wanted success. Just start where you see an end point and work your way backwards little by little until you have enough of the parts to duplicate.

When I applied the same process to Watchtower, I saw an elaborate attempt to dismantle the promises of God in the NT. WT bafoonery is what really got me interested in God again after leaving. That, coupled with much pain in losing my mom to this hideous cult.

Think about it. What are the odds that a "Christian" religion would piece together an elaborate scheme of spiritualizing old testament themes to arrive at the conclusion that people can get saved by rejecting a deal brokered by a man who walked out of a tomb that guaranteed the forgiveness of sins?

    Matthew 26:27-28
    New International Version

27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Master plan? Nah, it was just an accident.

Def an internal message to people in the know. COs. Bethelites. Branch committees.

Make you wonder what did the GB (and Helpers) are trying to shut down?

    LIAM:

I have been out of the Jehovah’s Witness religion for over 23 years. I did a ‘Fade a couple of years after the 1995 thing.

I remember reading in recent years on the forum about the famous statement you quoted: “We must be ready to obey even if it doesn’t make sense....”.

Shouldn’t a statement like this have made intelligent people wonder what’s going on? Like what are they going to be asked to do? I’m convinced that all the intelligent people in the religion should have already headed for the door - especially after the recent changes.. The rest are hopeless and captive because of family, etc… Others are just in sleep mode and they don’t care what is taught.

In an attempt to cover up his adultery with Bath-sheba, David had Abishai’s brother Joab arrange to have her husband, Uriah, killed in battle. (2 Sam. 11:2-4, 14, 15; 1 Chron. 2:16)

Abishai may have known something about this, but he continued to respect David as the king appointed by God.

I believe this is the first time that I have seen the WT subtley request loyalty while the annointed was in the commission of a "gross sin" like adultery and murder. You can hear the snake hissing behind this one.

It seems as if they've gone from "even if we are wrong, you should still be loyal and obey" to "even if we do something immoral and awful, you should still be loyal and obey."

    That's what's SCARY!

There are plenty of examples of Cults who have recruited some very intelligent people,(Scientists, Engineers, Doctors, etc., and have "Somehow" coerce these very intelligent people to commit suicide.

    Here is an example;

And in 1997, a former music professor named Applewhite persuaded 38 people to commit suicide with him, with plastic bags and purple cloths over their heads and Nike sneakers on their feet, in an effort to reach a UFO hiding behind Comet Hale-Bopp. This UFO was to take them, via what they termed Heaven’s Gate, to an unspecified interplanetary reward.
Yet a large number of modern adults put Victory Nikes on their feet and purple blankets over their faces and killed themselves, in shifts, for God’s sake, to become a post-mortem away team. (That really was the term they used—they were actually wearing Star Trek-inspired Away Team patches on their unisex black uniforms).
And of course, they didn’t go anywhere. They just died.

If the Governing Body decided one day to tell all the Members to drink the wine laced with poison on Memorial Day, I'm sure a Substantial amount would DRINK THE POISON.

The human species has this tenancy to believe things that give them hope of living forever.

Among the Human species, are those that think things out and realize someone is trying to scam them to do the unthinkable.....you call those individuals Critical thinkers.

You were a critical thinker LongHairGal, which is why you got out of the Watchtower before they did you damage.

I’d be lying if I said this hadn’t occurred to me, too.

In fact, it actually reminds me of something the alleged insider “redsetter” claimed in one of their posts back in the spring…

…that the WT leadership is actually expecting secular governments to “attack” them soon, specifically using CSA as a pretext (with the Great Trib presumably kicking off right after)…

…and that they don’t seem all that concerned about eschatalogical continuity… i.e. if it happens before “Babylon the Great” is eliminated.
