But we have to remember that Hitler was not German, he was Austrian! Some compare Hitler to Bush but I heard a great comment, "people loved Hitler and people love Bush. I saw a great question on CNN, should Bush and Blair be tried for war crimes since no weapons have been found?

I don't know if l would have said something Beans...or not..

Depends on the circumstances. Are you in company with this person on a regular basis.. then I would bring it up. If it was just a very casual acquaintance then I may not.

My husband and I went to visit a neighbour this past summer. She started really stamping on Americans (verbally).. I mean really ranting and raving about and against all Americans...

Then the conversation went to us going on vacation and where were we going..

I answered, " Oh, were going to America to visit all our relatives".. and then I said nothing and smiled.

The woman turned 50 shades of red....and red .. and redder.

She knew her foot was shoved deeply into her mouth..

    ....

I think we should speak up more. My daughter, being part of a mixed-race marriage, fields all kinds of bigoted remarks. Especially sweeping statements about immigrants. Bigoted people often preface a derogatory remark with, "Not that I am prejudice but..." It doesn't help. Claiming they have friends that are immigrants/black also does not help. A sweeping, derogatory remark is just that, and should be challenged. It might be really funny, but somebody in the room might be dying inside.
