Unsure if the original gold cost a lot more or not, but if told somebody that rose watch is 17,000 and they see it's $399, it'll look like an 'apostate lie'.

'only $399'??? I agree with Pete. When I was a pioneer, I lived on air. I repaired my own shoes, didn't have money for medical or dental care, wore old clothes, lived in a barn (literally), etc. The end was imminent. Billions of lives were at stake. I wore 15$ Casio watches (and still do). I still suffer immensely for having been a JW. To see these GBers now with their fancy watches, movie star status, etc. irks me immensely.

I used to think that GBers were like serious, medieval monks who deprived themselves and spent their time holed up in some dark room seeking truth/enlightenment, studying old texts, learning old languages, etc. My opinion sure has changed.

Yeah I think these watches started off expensive then came down. But yeah 400 hundred for a watch is a lot for most people and very expensive for most JWs
