Rockem-Stinging them with a bb gun might do the trick to move them along to another yard without killing them.

    Just a thought.

I have heard of raccoons tearing roofing off to get into attics. They are adorable but I do understand how destructive they can be and this is coming from an animal lover.

One year raccoons were carrying some sort of disease in their scat and the neighbor had to shoot one in broad daylight because it was acting strangely.

Please don't use that inhumane trap. An animal will gnaw off their own leg.

I have trouble with raccoons in my detached garage. But,I put a light on at night and put on talk radio to keep them away. And it appears to have worked.

But,please only use the humane trap. I thought those jaw traps were illegal,or they should be.

Over here we are loaded with raccoons as we are coyotes. They do severe damage to houses, carry diseases such as roundworms, leptospirosis, salmonella and rabies. They kill livestock such as chickens. They kill off any eggs that are hatched on the ground such as grouse, wild turkey, ducks, geese and swans. They also kill and eat any eggs or baby birds in trees. They are absolutely good for nothing and that is why they are pests. Here they get shot. It's not against the law to use those traps that you posted here but why in the hell would you want to trap that way or even want to give anyone ideas to try it by posting this pic. Don't tell me they don't suffer. They will chew their legs off to escape you dumb ass f. Other animal paws can get trapped in them as well. Pictures like this should be banned along with people like you and people who allow it.

I was raised on a farm and I will tell you, they are destructive little bastards. Really no easy answer once they get settled in. I am always for the humane option first, but if there is a problem one...a swift and painless death is sometimes the best option. I personally hate traps. Believe it or not, a water sprinkler set to a motion sensor works well. From my personal experience, they hate that. Also mace! But if either doesn't works for you, don't use the traps. Unless you are willing to drive 20 miles away, they eventually find their way back. A well aimed 22 and bam. But please, use only as a last resort.

Oh, for Christ sakes! All you race baiters who try to take every little word and make it racist is bullshit. In the northeastern USA, a coon is a coon, a racoon. Nowhere in his post did he even remotely apply it in any other way. If a racists connotation came up in your mind, then maybe YOU have a problem.

I hope your cats never become "pests" to any of your neighbours. I'd hate to see them get their leg caught in such a brutal trap.

Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave.

Well, that darn trap worked. I gave that coon a chance put out more bait in the live trap he got the bait and did not set the trap off. The no pet paw trap worked. He passed away fast and no pain. One shot to the head and he never knew what hit him. Coons are destructive, dangerous and carry disease. But I don't want to make them suffer. I did not want to have to kill him but he was getting destructive. The dukes dog proof trap really works well if anyone has an issue with coons. Will not work with Armadillos or possum. I live in a sub division so I am glad i bought my Tach 65 22 suppressor years ago. Sounds like a BB gun going off.
