Rub, I did say this
(not as much as in the past, not easy to dumb down for current jws)
It would take an oldtimer like me to remember the convoluted way they used to approach this. Even then I could see the eyes of many glaze over.

It’s still technically canon...
...mostly because WT Oracle Fred Franz kicked the bucket without leaving behind any kind of protege, and Old Man Jaracz used 9-11 to purge HQ of all the liberals and moderates...
...so there’s no creative or skilled enough writers left to give the Org’s End-Times script a much needed page-one rewrite.
actually you are wrong ;) Babylon the great is actually falling... just in the usa there was a 5% decrease in religion members 2015-2018.. now there is only 65% of people that belong to a religion
The WTBT/CCoJW's "current" truth/understanding regarding Babylon the Great teaches that it represents the world empire of false religion, i.e. every religion in the world except JW's.
Doesn't make sense. Revelation 17:5 (NIV) describes BTG this way - "The name written on her forehead was a mystery: Babylon the great the mother of prostitutes (plural) and of the abominations (plural) of the earth."
BTG is depicted as being the foremost reprehensible entity on earth who in turn produces other lesser "prostitutes" who emulate her vile behaviour which is described in further detail in Revelation.
BTG is the originator of the rest and way ahead of them all with her practices, but she is not all of them - she stands head and shoulders above them all! :)

Babylon is Jerusalem
Some preterist writers such as Chilton, believe that Babylon is a code name for Jerusalem:1
The primary thrust of the prophecy has been directed against Jerusalem . . . John gives us no indication that the subject has been changed. As we shall see in Chapters 17 and 18, the evidence that the prophetic Babylon was Jerusalem is nothing short of overwhelming.2
In his first epistle, presumably written before the Revelation, St. Peter described the local church from which he wrote as “she who is in Babylon” (1Pe. 1Pe. 5:13). Many have supposed this to be Rome, where St. Peter was (according to tradition) later martyred, but it is much more likely that the apostle was in Jerusalem when he wrote these words. Based on data from the New Testament itself, our natural assumption should be that “Babylon” was Jerusalem, since that was where he lived and exercised his ministry.3
Preterists find support for this surprising claim in the great similarity between passages concerning apostate Jerusalem and what is said concerning the Harlot. But if the Harlot is the mother of all harlots, this is to be expected. It is important to recognize that the Harlot influenced all nations, including Israel. For “in her [the Harlot] was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth” (Rev. Rev. 18:24+). Thus, similarities between apostate Israel...Didn`t the WT identify the Roman Catholic Church as the principle head of Babylon The Great ? The leader of Christendom and the Pope as the Vicar of Christ here on earth ,who along with other minor/major Christian religions upheld the League of Nations as mans only hope for peace and security thereby rejecting Christ Jesus kingship.
So Christendom accepted a counterfeit kingdom in place of God`s kingdom .
That hefty tome "Babylon the Great has fallen - God's Kingdom rules" was released in 1963. I placed a few of those but never got much response when returning (Back calls!). Not the most readable text and today's dumbed down JW's wouldn't have a clue. Maybe if they made it into a Caleb & Sophie video...…..
