I finally tied the knot, or any advice for an old "sew-and-sew"?

    GREETINGS:

I met up with many friends of 50-60 years over the last week. These were friends from the neighborhood, school, and KH. I renewed some really special attachments. Sigh . . .

However, one of my garments tore along the seam and the hand-stitching skills I once had have gone out the window. Threading a needle is still doable, but I had the hardest time tying the knot at the thread's ends.

Any tips on hand sewing when it all seams to be getting more and more cumbersome?

    THANKS!

I thought you got hitched.(which should solve all your household needs and wants), so: We always wetted the end of the yarn to thread or loop the ends, to control the loose fibres.

    Thanks, prologos!

My wagon used to be hitched to a star . . .

Yes! Wetting the ends. So simple.

Are fibers really fibres across the pond?

I used a meter stick teaching Science today, but could it really have been a metre stick?

I've been on this site so long that I don't know which spelling is which.

It's October. Maybe I'll just teach witch spelling...

    - I finally tied the knot

    - ...an old "sew and sew"

    - ...it all seams to be...

    - I renewed some special attachments

All the word play mislead me too, but you only got stitched, not hitched.

CoCo, there "seams" to be some confusion on this here thread!

    Ok....funny enough, now seriously...

They make a fabric tape that you can use to tape the seam and heat it with an iron. After you do that you can still stitch over it if you want for double the strength.

I think it is called stitch witch or something?
