  What struck me was, that no matter how many times I said that I don't believe in God, they spoke to me as if I did. They kept asking me how God would feel about stuff. Time and time again I replied, 'he doesn't feel because he doesn't exist.'

  They are trained not to listen, and not to respond to what you say.

  They do not realize that this is so, they think they are having a discussion ! But all the old TMS and SM stuff trained them to sidestep anything a person said, and these days if the numb-nuts JDubbies don't have the skill to sidestep, they simply ignore totally what you have said.

  I noticed this the last few times I have been called on, and all these guys were Elders.

  The problem is that deep down they know they cannot defend their beliefs.

  So they dare not engage with anything you say. Pathetic.

  That's what happens when you ask them tough questions. They get an overwhelmed, puzzled look on their faces, offer magazines and scurry away.

  Very true Beth S, and yet back in the day when I was a young Jayhubberdub, myself and many JW's could make a "good fist" of defending our beliefs, and would be able to converse with anyone.

  I personally have "witnessed" to a Lord of the Realm, I was 16 at the time, spoken with many Clergymen, including a Bishop ( I "placed" the magazines with him, we used to charge in those days, so I gave him a discount as he was "in the Trade" as I put it), discussed things with Muslims, Hindus and a Satanist, and would certainly engage non-believers.

  I was not at the time unique.

  The standard has dropped in the Org in every area that they operate in.

  I could never do that - not because I couldn't put a case for it but underneath I struggled because I don't think I believed it myself and felt a bit of a tit for defending it.

  LOL, I remember all to well the first call of the morning of field serve us. The first call we would get some hardcore Born Again person. The poor brother beside me fumbling through his Reasoning Book overwhelmed. He ended-up attempting to give the Householder a tract, the householder vehemently refused and shut the door. Happened a few times.

  I did mention that their trolley, which they corrected me and called it a cart, had no bibles. Oddly enough, one of them looked behind it as if in an involuntary way making sure the bibles were hidden. How odd....if they claim to be bible based.....no bibles, just thin litter trash. When the bloke said it was a cart, I said, 'very american'! This was to plant the idea that the bOrg are an American cult. I imagine that got lost. I think I have become an 'experience(TM). 😁

  I walked past trolley and two trolley-dollys. One recognised me as a former jw and made some giggle to her friend about my weight as I have got a lot bigger. This is quite true but with a v.controlled diet is due to medications.

  I gave her a dirty look and a dismissive head shake to her partner.
