Will Governing Body follow through with New Zealand Royal Commission's recommendation to publicly apologize?

But after the comment by GB member Fleegle, in saying the Governing Body is not required to apologize for its mistakes,

no-zombie: would you please give me this ref.? Is it in one of their videos? I have a hard time watching them for long, so hunting myself for this is out. I just can't take it. But I'd be willing to endure thru a bit in order to see this admission for myself. I think it's a very hot topic, given the apostle Paul's words at Gal. 2:11-14, as well as passages like Acts 15:37-39, Heb. 13:18b, and Jas. 5:16.

    Interesting clip.

It looks like a case of: we claim all the authority, but accept none of the responsibility.

Isn’t it remarkable, too, that this new GB member can be so confident expounding the authority of the “faithful slave” of which he is now a part, when until very recently the idea of who comprised the “faithful slave” was different than the current teaching. It’s all very well saying the “faithful slave” can make mistakes, but when the official position is that the “faithful slave” was wrong about its supposed own identity for most of its existence, then it becomes difficult to brush that aside. If the “faithful slave” isn’t even sure who the “faithful slave” is, why should it be trusted about important matters?

Interesting that he mentioned the light getting brighter too. I’ve not heard that for a while. Is that still the official reading of Prov 4.18?

The comment in the clip ("nor is an apology needed for not getting it exactly right previously") was not by "GB member Fleegle" but by Jeffrey Winder. It can be found in Part 2 of the 2023 Annual Meeting. The statement starts at 6 min 30 sec into the video.

The reason The GB HAS NEVER and WILL NEVER apologize for previous doctrines and policies, no matter how harmful is :

an apology = a legal admission of GUILT which then = LIABILITY

Legal Liability = AUTOMATIC DAMAGES which = boatloads more $$$$$ paid out to victims by the corporation.

WTC is never going to help victims collect $$$ no matter how egregious their agent's conduct.

The NZ government will insist that the GB apologise. The American GB refuses to apologize. Stalemate.

But seriously, slimboyfat is right with: "It looks like a case of: we claim all the authority, but accept none of the responsibility". They'll never relinquish their self-perceived moral authority, and an apology would do just that.

Threatening their status as a religion and also their charitable status might work, but, their pride is too great. NZ is a small outlier of their empire. They might just take the L and let go of the small number of assets they still have there. They've moved that operation to Sydney*, anyway.

*Denham Court, actually, according to the company registration data on the ASIC database.

The conduct of those agents has seemingly had their tacit/implied/inferred approval anyway. Jaracz made it so.

I seem to recall Barb Anderson once suggesting a long time ago that Ted Jaracz had essentially doomed the Organization, but there was no follow-up elaboration (that I caught, anyway).

As a result, I couldn’t fully grasp what she was getting at at the time, but it’s pretty obvious now.
