Do JW's Ever Have Strong Opinions About Anything?

Seems to me that they don't have strong opinions about anything that isn't connected to their religion.

For example, how many are vegetarians or vegans?

Or pro or anti capital punishment?

Or even for or against the war in Iraq?

I was just wondering how one's personality could develop properly if a person only ever held a strong opinion about his/her religion.

Since strong opinions are goatlike I suspect the only strong opinions they have are to not have strong opinions, unless the watchtower gives them the ok.

Ah, but are those their own opinions or opinions that they have been told that they should possess?

I believe they are required opinions.

Some do -- but it is usually about a weird diet or something like that

those kinds of things might lead one to believe they have a political or nationalistic view and that would be taboo..

I knew a vegatarian once.. oh yeah.. he wasn't a real brother but one that pretended to be on the internet..

I've known JWs with strong opinions on a whole range of things... from diet to the education of children to business practices to computer software, etc.

The worst part was that they tended to find some biblical justification for their opinions, and therefore felt entitled to push them on everyone else, too.

The strongest opinions I ever ran across in the JWs were about the reproved, the disfellowshipped, and "apostates".
