Here in the U.K there is no Clergy/Penitent privilege, things confessed need not be kept confidential, though in practice usually are by most Churches, if they are not criminal offences. If they are Criminal acts, the priest/vicar/minister is bound in Law to disclose the Crime/crimes !
The silly thing about the Org. is it is so parochial it thinks its advice is universal.
Without doubt, even though in law they may be alright in the USA, it is a moral duty that they are again not willing to fulfill. The Org really is despicable, and Immoral.
I am appalled but not shocked. We had a similar situation and handled it the same way. Hopefully he didn't kill anyone else. It is a hand-wringer.
Watchtower claims clergy ecumenical privilege but denies that it has a clergy, except when they need the title.

Surely an investigative journalist of the media could have a ball digging into the background of this letter from the JW HQ. ?
