JW's Mentioned on Hannity and Colmes

I hope I'm not repeating another thread, but I was listening to Hannity and Colmes on Fox last night (Thursday) and they mentioned a law suit (in Washington State I think) filed by a woman to keep the word "Christmas" in the holiday songs.

Hannity said this resulted from several JW families that requested that the words be changed so their children could participate and sing the holiday songs. The school made the changes and now apparently at least one mother wants the original words put back in.

One of the issues she brought up was that the word Hannukah was not removed, only Christmas.

Did anyone else catch the show or know of the lawsuit ? It was on in the background and I really didn't catch all the details.

I don't remember Hannukah songs being sung in school. But then there were not that many Jewish students. The schools I'm familiar with have eliminated Christ from the music agenda not because of JWs but because of the separation of church and state and so not to offend families that are Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, or atheists/agnostic. I was just excused from music programs back in the olden days. Actually, I played both sides, I would get my non-JW father to give me permission.

That doesn't sound right. JWs aren't supposed to run around changing things, their supposed to not get involved. Changing the words doesn't change the fact that it's a worldly holiday and isn't supported by JWs. Occasionally some JW nut might make waves but by and large most follow the guidelines set out by the WTS. Maybe you mis-heard it or Hannity got his story wrong.

The part about the JW families requesting the change I definitely heard ....that's what caught my attention immediately. I was surprised too.

What I wasn't paying particular attention to was the part about the lawsuit being filed.

It's true that the JW families may not have "requested" it as was mentioned but rather they explained the situation to the school and then the school came back with an offer of not having religious words in the songs.

Whatever the case, the school is getting sued.

    Gerard ...thanks for the link.

Interesting that the article does not mention the JW's but Hannity on the air did.

My apologies on assuming that maybe you heard it wrong.

But it still doesn't smell right to me.

That makes more sense than JWs suing to have holiday songs changed, LOL.

Maybe he lumped JWs in with all non-observing-"christian"-holiday groups? These guys like to do that kind of thing anyway. Mention the lawsuit and bitch about it, and while you're at it, bitch about something or somebody else that really isn't involved but since they think the same way, it's okay.

On a semi related topic, I have a friend who has two JW children in her third grade class. At the last holiday-related class party, the JW children were picked up by their parents prior to the festivities, but both requested that the snacks and prizes to be distributed at the party be bagged up for their children to enjoy at home. (I guess if the Halloween candy and stickers were enjoyed outside of the party, they were OK)

Since neither family had participated in paying the nominal fees at the beginning of the year to fund the parties due to their religious objections, she politely declined to give the parents the items unless they wanted to reconsider contributing to the fund. She found it odd that the both sets of parents again refused to contribute but were visibly upset that their children weren't getting the treats anyway.

Sean acts like he is concerned about children in America, yet...

HE NEVR REPLIED ONCE TO MY EMAILS ABOUT JW MOLESTATION NEWS RELEASES...EVER. NO ONE AT FOX NEWS EVER REPORTED ANY OF THIS AS IT WAS ON MANY OTHER NEWS MEDIA OUTLETS.

    Screw him!

Oh, and this absolutely a fact about Hannity:

    Dead on assesment.

OReilly sucks too. So "SHUT UP"!!!

Fox simply has deteriorated over the last few years.
