I'm still not over the assembly demo where the young girl used the example of smoking being "disgusting" (like being gay) and then went on to say that she "chose" to be heterosexual, showing that she was both judgmental and ignorant.

    A fine witness to Jehovah!

    “Isn't it disgusting?”

“That thing that just knocked on my door.”

“You know, the preacher lady. I can't wait until people like that are no more. They hardly ever change and give up their harsh judgements. I doubt she’ll read the science article I gave her explaining that you can’t pray the gay away, you’re simply born that way.”

Affiliating yourself with such a hateful group, let alone representing them in the recruitment effort, really makes you part of it regardless of how you believe or feel inside.

The good news is you have a great gift--the gift of wisdom and caring. You have the ability inside yourself to leave all of that crap behind.

It starts at the top....I was listening to 3 Bethel elders talk about homosexuality and that it was worse than adultery.

I perked up at that and asked now the punishment for adultery was different than homosexuality. I was told it was a gross sin. Actually....

The Changing Face of “Christianity”—Acceptable to God? (‎4 occurrences)

    • Yet, the Bible leaves no doubt that fornication, adultery, and homosexuality are gross sins in the eyes of God and that those practicing such sins “will not inherit God’s kingdom.”

Settle Differences in a Spirit of Love (‎3 occurrences)

    • Such sins might involve a measure of fraud or might include damaging a person’s reputation through slander.... The offense did not include such a sin as adultery, homosexuality, apostasy, idolatry, or some other gross sin definitely requiring the attention of the congregation elders.

I've got quite a lot of non-J.W gay and lesbian friends and they've all been wonderful to me over the years, so these comments hurt me personally, but I know most J.W's feel like this.

It shows what kind of narrow-minded and prejudiced people some J.W's are, but if confronted they would just say such people live contrary to Jehovah's guidelines and the bible clearly shows they will die.

I wonder what's new about this. I find it difficult for you to just find out that that's what the average JW says, whether they actually feel that way or not, plus they show the same type of hatred for pretty much anything and anyone who isn't like them.

Not sure what made you react and the way you are now. Are you just realizing that now? And since when are JWs allowed to have friends outside their crop, especially LGBT people? Times have changed, I guess.

At least among the JWs I know you might be the outlier, not them.
