The Governing Body Doesn't Wait On Jehovah

Have you ever been told that humility requires waiting on Jehovah?

I have. Lots of times. For decades. So, I got to wondering, why is the Governing Body requiring Jehovah's Witnesses to do something the Governing Body is not willing to do?

    Genesis 40:8
At this they said to him: "We each had a dream, but there is no interpreter with us." Joseph said to them: "Do not interpretations belong to God? Relate it to me, please."

The Governing Body does not wait on Jehovah. Each time the Governing Body has changed any interpretation of prophecy, each time they have published their changed understanding of prophecy as the truth and as food at the proper time, and each time they have praised Jehovah for this revealed new light they have proved ... each time ... that they lack humility, that they are neither faithful nor discreet, and that they are unwilling to wait on Jehovah.

They claim their interpretations are opinions and best surmises and that they are not inspired.

    Fine.

Then, what makes their interpretations "food" they received from Jehovah? Why would they dare to praise Jehovah for their opinions and best surmises? Jehovah didn't ever tell them to teach those opinions of men as truth, or to call them "food" from Jehovah, did he?

If they aren't inspired and are only stating their opinions and best surmises, why do they judge harshly other humans who disagree?

They stubbornly refuse to wait on interpretations from Jehovah, haughtily rushing ahead to teach human opinions as doctrines, then they hypocritically tell Jehovah's Witnesses to do exactly what they are unwilling to do.

    Matthew 23:4
They bind up heavy loads and put them on the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.

Ezekiel 13:1 And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying: 2 “Son of man, prophesy concerning the prophets of Israel who are prophesying,+ and you must say to those prophesying out of their own heart,+ ‘Hear the word of Jehovah.+ 3
This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “Woe to the stupid+ prophets, who are walking after their own spirit,*+ when there is nothing that they have seen!+
    4
Like foxes in the devastated places are what your own prophets have become, O Israel.+ 5 YOU men will certainly not go up into the gaps,+ neither will YOU build up a stone wall+ in behalf of the house of Israel, in order to stand in the battle* in the day of Jehovah.”+ 6 “They have visioned what is untrue and a lying divination,+ those who are saying, ‘The utterance of Jehovah is,’ when Jehovah himself has not sent them, and they have waited to have a word come true.+ 7 Is it not an untrue vision that YOU men have visioned, and a lying divination that YOU have said, when saying, ‘The utterance of Jehovah is,’ when I myself have spoken nothing?”’+

8 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: “‘For the reason that YOU men have spoken untruth and YOU have visioned a lie, therefore here I am against YOU,’+ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.” 9 And my hand has come to be against the prophets that are visioning untruth and that are divining a lie.+ In the intimate+ group of my people they will not continue on, and in the register* of the house of Israel they will not be written,+ and to the soil of Israel they will not come;+ and YOU people* will have to know that I am the Sovereign Lord Jehovah,+ 10 for the reason, yes, for the reason that they have led my people astray, saying, “There is peace!” when there is no peace,+ and there is one that is building a partition wall, but in vain+ there are those plastering it with whitewash.’+

11 “Say to those plastering with whitewash that it will fall. A flooding downpour will certainly occur, and YOU, O hailstones, will fall,* and a blast* of windstorms itself will cause a splitting.+ 12 And, look! the wall must fall. Will it not be said to YOU men, ‘Where is the coating* with which YOU did the plastering?’+

13 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘I will also cause a blast of windstorms to burst forth in my rage, and in my anger there will occur a flooding downpour, and in rage there will be hailstones for an extermination.+ 14 And I will tear down the wall that YOU men have plastered with whitewash and bring it into contact with the earth, and its foundation must be exposed.+ And she* will certainly fall, and YOU must come to an end in the midst of her; and YOU will have to know that I am Jehovah.’+

15 “‘And I will bring my rage to its finish upon the wall and upon those plastering it with whitewash, and I shall say to YOU men: “The wall is no more, and those plastering it are no more,+ 16 the prophets of Israel that are prophesying to Jerusalem and that are visioning for her a vision of peace,+ when there is no peace,”’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah.+

" whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven "

Since according to wt belief, that was written only for the anointed, them, why not take Jesus, now ruling among his enemies since 1914 --up on his word?

Well they willl never get it right when they twist the plain meaning of "this generation".

JB75: the current meaning goes to 2075, with 2 overlapping centenarian partakers right?

The real God of the GovBod (piss be upon them), is money.

I'm sure some of them don't even believe in Jehovah(tm).

    What do they believe?

    • They want a rock star lifestyle
    • They live in luxury
    • They alter the Bible for their own ends
    • They are worshipped
    • They have devalued god to an insignificant nobody
    • They protect paedophiles (probably because some or all of them are paedophiles themselves)

It's most certainly a dangerous CULT.

I had to laugh some years ago reading this....

“They say that it is sufficient to read the bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home. But, strangely, through such ‘Bible reading,’ they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by Christendom’s clergy were teaching 100 years ago…”The Watchtower, August 15, 1981, pp. 28-29

The churches must be right by their logic!

(Disclaimer: I am a hard Atheist)

    Waton,

I dont know their latest crazies. I am just very opposed to the dispensationalist / futurist twisting of "this generation". It is popular among evangelicals too. But the JWs have 1914 also. They must give up on that sometime and then what? I believe Jesus returned in judgment upon Jerusalem in AD 70

According to the Bible, God gave his law to his people through Moses. The only time there was anything one might refer to as "new light" was when Jesus came to earth to fulfill the law. That's it.

So, for centuries the Israelites had the Mosaic law with no new light. Then Jesus begins his ministry around 30AD. We get the Sermon on the Mount and a few other public discourses sprinkled with a few private meetings with the disciples. That's it.

Even decades after Jesus' death and resurrection, the writers of the New Testament refine nothing. No new light. No change in Jesus' teachings. No "clearer understanding" of the Gospel.

If anyone knows how many times Watchtower claims to have received "new light" I would like to know that number. I'm sure it will be a sharp contrast to the one time it actually happened and it took Jesus coming to Earth to do it.

They claim to abide by the bible, and have the monopoly on it. My challenge is, why is it not possible to use the bible and just the bible, and get the truth out of it? They can't even handle the bible, let alone the actual truth.

As I don't claim to abide by the bible or that joke-hova provides anything but misery and enslavement for those following it, I am not bound by any of that. But, when they tell people to wait on joke-hova and then go ahead (or, worse, back and forth), they are hypocrites. Better they would be if they simply ditched the bible, openly, and proclaimed open communism (which is, in fact, what they are doing--but with the bible as their blind). They are taking a bad situation (that they are communists) and making it worse by tying the bible into it and then hypocritically not abiding by it. They deserve even worse trouble--bad enough to push communism, but they deserve worse for lying about it.

    Good topic Afterburn.

More importantly to me as I have often explained to the local elders in "my" congregation, :Why did Jehovah give the the governing body the WRONG understanding to begin with so that so called "new light" would be need to correct the wrong understandings?"

And yea, I lack humility too, I quit waiting on Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny!

    just saying!
