I knew a really nice brother who was pretty much thrown out because he had a beard. The only reason why he had a beard was for medical reasons (he had a bad ingrown hair problem

I remember one brother had to get a doctors note as to why he did not shave. He was still publicly reproved. My oldest son started to grow facial hair. He, not I, was told he needed to remove it. We are talking peach fuzz here. Three strands out the chin. When I did quote about Leviticus I was told that is old testament. Jesus removed all the laws of the old testament, so we need not follow those laws.

One elder in my hall sported a very nice beard, but he told everybody he couldn't shave it off because of medical reasons......I never quite understood what medical reason could there be for not allowing a man to shave. I think he was just making something up just so he could keep his beard.

Beards are a "gateway" to more extreme fashions and activities. Before you know it, you will be wearing a peace sign around your neck, followed by partaking of the "herb" and chanting socialist slogans.

Shaving Bumps which plague many black men

Pseudo-folliculitis Barbae (Shaving Bumps) and Folliculitis

Pseudo-folliculitis Barbae, commonly known as shaving bumps, is a widespread problem among individuals with curly hair and dark skin. As the hair follicle grows out of the skin, it immediately curls and re-enters the skin. The skin reacts to it as a foreign body and becomes inflamed and irritated, creating bumps.

Sometimes these bumps become quite large and can be somewhat relieved by using topical steroids. A more common method of eliminating these bumps is pulling the in-grown hair out after each shaving, which is painful and time-consuming. Now All About Youth can provide a long-lasting effective relief for PFB by removing the hair follicles. And because the Lyra laser is the only laser FDA cleared for all skin types, it can safely and effectively be used on tanned or dark patients. Folliculitis is an inflammation of hair follicles due to bacterial or fungal infections. The area around hair follicles looks inflamed and acne-like often extruding puss. Unlike the PFB, folliculitis can occur in all skin and hair types and not related to shaving. This problem can be both temporary or chronic. Like with the shaving bumps, however, the Lyra can help. Because either bacteria or fungus cannot exist outside the hair shaft, by removing the hairs, the Lyra significantly relieves this malady.

  • If the above measures fail, accept that you have to grow a beard! In certain occupations where beardedness is not approved of, a medical certificate may help.

never quite understood what medical reason could there be for not allowing a man to shave

The one man I knew, he had such extreem dry skin, that when he shaved, his face would bleed. The winter time was really bad for him. So come cold season, he would not shave. I am not sure of other reasons. But I am guessing sensitve skin can be another reason.

I get this sometimes. It's a real pain in the ass. I've had the bumps turn black due to the hair still growing. All I do it take a pin, puncture it, and pull the hair out. I'll tell ya, it's funny to see yourself clean shaven with one really long whisker sticking out of your face.

My fiance continually inspects my face for this problem and takes care of it for me.

I've heard so many local need parts about the evils of beards.

The reason , they say, is because of the way they are perceived in the community.

Which community? Not the "wordly" community. A well trimmed beard is very acceptable and attractive.

It's only in the Jw community that beards are looked down upon. This just one of their many rules that go "behond what is written".

Funny, moustaches are OK for them. They have never said anything about men with moustaches.
