A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND MRS. OZZIE.
We are still in the early stages of Christmas Eve here. We are celebrating an anniversary of sorts; the anniversary of our twenty years together as a couple. Yep, we made our commitment to the relationship on 12-24-83. This morning we had the best conversation about some of our memories over the years. We exchanged cards and will go out to lunch together a bit later.
This year we bought some christmas gifts for the grandchildren and have celebrated three family members birthdays a couple days ago. All three within one week. Hubby and I aren't going to exchange christmas gifts, as we usually just go shopping after the holidays and pick up items we might need that are on sale. We are exchanging gifts for our anniversary celebration.
Tomorrow, we will go to the home of one of the boys and share Christmas Day dinner with them. They are the young Christian family, struggling to make things work. It gives us joy to see the children so happy. It really is their special day after all.
Children do not understand being "left out", so I contributed to a needy family by purchasing several items of clothing for a small boy. Every year at work, we have a couple families that everyone buys for. Some purchase food, others clothing, and others toys.
I view Christmas differently now than at any other time in life, especially since I have so changed my belief structure. We didn't put up a tree or any decor and that is how we both felt. We could have, but we just didn't. The only thing I did was hang some Christmas cards that we received.(All six of them.) When you take religion out of the equation, you just find yourself thinking about many different things.
