...when he lived in northern Ontario?
Wg
I knew him when he was in Montreal
Me too Montreal...
I spoke to him a few times on the phone when he lived in Montreal. He struck me as more Bible-oriented than the average elder but still very much under the illusion that God has an organization and that the WTS is it. Young as he was, I got the impression that he thought of himself as God's gift to the organization to "kindly" keep everybody else on the straight and narrow path. Herk
Hi belbab, so, your from an older school. I never heard of such a person until I read your thread. Very interesting, I say. How do you account for such mentality? Did he have all his marbles during your days? He certainlty got to the top of the ladder, didn't he, but how? Hard work on his part or Jehovah richly blessed him?
Herk, I think you supplied the answer, '...but still very much under illusion...' So, he gave you the impression that he was '...God's gift to the organization...' No need to say anymore. Some people are legends in their own minds.

Yea that God's gift to the org bit got me too.
He was really gung ho on the org stuff - a real match for my ex which is probably why I didn't take to him too well
Herk, Your comments are right on.
Guest 77,
"Some people are legends in their own minds."
That's it, He thought that he was driving furiously Jehu's chariot, absolutely tolerating no rivalry to Jehovah, (cross out Jehovah, substitute the WT Org. )
I too, would like to find out more comments about his past history. His biography says he spent 19 years in the circuit work in Canada. Some one must have a few more stories about him.
As to how he got to the top of the ladder? How does anyone get to the top of any large corporation? Over the dead bodies left behind him, and down on his knees shoe polishing and stroking the egos of his superiours.
Hello Belbab,
How are you? Long time no hear.
Your experiences with Splane are tonally very similiar to my own. A man who would gladly be strapped to a log and passed through a sawmill to show his allegiance to a few men and a group of buildings on the East coast of the US. A small man with a large ego.
Splane is a clone of Theo Jaracz, directly groomed and supported by him. I suspect that TJ is preparing for his own eventual demise by feathering the GB nest with the closest thing to himself that is available, there is after all a close family connection with TJ and personnel within Georgetown.
Take care - HS
I first met David Splane and his wife when he was first being trained as a Circuit Overseer. I was one of the first publishers in our congregation to go out with him in the service as a trainee.
He was kind and humble soft spoken and yet knew how to keep a house holder in the palms of his hands. He was in no way pretentious as an indivdual or as a CO. I remeber him and his wife in Montreal by this time an excellent speaker and yet I still found him to be kind and humble.
If memory serves me right I think he was from Nova Scotia. He knew my grandparents who were special pioneers in Halifax, and Sheet Harbour, and Springhill Nova Scotia,
That is what I remember of him
