Sometimes we focus on some negative things about our lives and that often serves a helpful purpose in our healing. But if we concentrate on something positive, can you recall something that struck you for its kindness? One thing I will never forget is the men and women who went into action to try to save thousands of people in NYC on September 11th. Many firefighters and policemen went into buildings knowing what could easily happen, yet they tried to save stranger's lives! That to me was the ultimate and still saddens me when I dwell on it........Was there any event or situation that you will never forget because of a person's kindness?

A person named Ray Franz wrote a couple books that helped me put the puzzle together regarding an obscure religion that I was involved in......

The kindest thing anyone's ever done for me was when seven years ago I was on a list of XJW's called PHILIA. JIm Penton was on there, Randy Watters was on there, Jan Haugland was on there. We were all on there together. It was before the Internet as we know it. I'd always believet hat the JW's were the truth. When I started finding out the TRUTH about the truth, I was upset. I went into the nut house. They sent, all of them, a spring bouquet of flowers that touched my heart. A man walked up to my house in the country and presented me with a beautiful armful of spring flowers.. form all of them... and that was the first hint I knew that the WORLD wasn't a bad thing. I'll never forget what happened that day.. not ever.

When i was about 16, i was renting a room. No job, only a couple of bucks left. I bought bread. The owners of the house noticed, and they started to include board in, w the room. Their son invited me to see a movie. He paid, of course. The movie was 'woodstock'. After a bit, i found a job, and the house owner, dave horbal, drove me to work until i got enough money for gas, for my car.

These people were not jw's. At the time, i was a young jw who partied w the other young jws, including elders' kids, in the town where i was.

Though I've been "down & out" in San Diego County when I was disabled from a car accident and received many kindnesses from strangers both before and after my disf-ing, such as shelter, clothing, transportation and food, I think the kindest thing anyone ever did for me was to teach me how to break a bad personal habit....without a word.....by example, with the utmost of tact and discretion....very gently.

A woman I have met one time, heard we were having a stressful time, when my mother was ill early in November, and I had the flu at the same time. She cooked a dinner for Dave, my father and myself, and it was enough food for three meals. She is from London, and made a wonderful meal, complete with Yorkshire puddings too. I was very touched by her kindness, thoughtfulness and her generosity to a stranger.

She and my JW friend both worked for Microsoft executives for many years as housekeepers, and she had told her about what we were going through.

Many years ago, in my first marriage, I was struggling trying to hold it all together. My car wasn't reliable and neither was husband #1. I had a small child and lots of responsibility. My job was good, but I just wasn't making ends meet with my income alone. It seemed like I had the whole world on my shoulders.

Then one day, I got the mail, and there was this envelope addressed to me with no return address. When I opened it, there was a $100. dollar bill inside and nothing else. The next week, I received the second envelope (same), and then awhile after that, a third. The person obviously wished to remain annonymous. I wanted to thank them so much but had no way. I used the money very wisely.

I remember when I had newly left the borg way way way way way long time ago and was going absolutely crazy with all manner of things worldly and was just lacking any type of parental guidance (as I was 17 at the time) I randomly met this older lady that had been the mother of one of my other decrepit friends. I recall her saying one thing and thats it but that one thing made me feel very good and it has stayed with me all these years. She looked at me one time (face full of piercings and all) and said, "it doesnt matter what you look like out there...you will always be loved in here". I only recall this cuz I looked the absolute worst that I had ever and even then there was someones mother that saw the kid that was there. It was a long time ago but it lasted a long time. I havent talked to that lady or even seen her in a long time but I remember her words...I think that was the nicest, kindest thing that anyone has ever done for me...or at least one of ones that stood out in my memory.
