freedom of speech and loss of rights

I was thinking about freedom of speech after watching a clip about the JW suing Kevin McFree. They wanted to take away his freedom of speech. But in thinking about it, that is the way of the organization, save they want to control thought as well. You would think they would be a champion of freedom of speech because they fought it through the supreme court. It is one-sided at best. If you have an issue you take before the elders, you are told to keep your mouth shut about it. ( why so many perverts get away with molesting kids)

I wonder who besides Kevin McFree they have tried to silence! You simply are not allowed to speak against the GB ( loss of freedom of speech.)

Another way they take away our freedom of speech is by announcement of our name should we disassociate. What good is freedom of speech if others are prohibited from hearing what you have to say?

Here is another right that the JW take away: the 6 amendment gives people the right to confront those who accuse them of a crime. Well, some behaviors just as well be crimes where the JW are concerned, because the judges will strip you of your right to life! People can report something about you to the elders and you will never learn who your accuser/s are. This is not only unscriptural, ( if you have an issue with your brother, you are supposed to take it before him first and work it out ) , but unlawful. ( 6 amendment ) ( I was called on the carpet for shacking up in a motel with someone 1.5 hours from home-a totally made up lie, and wasn't told who brought that slander to the elders. And another time, I was called out for being drunk and they wouldn't tell me who told it--to top that story off, one of the elders in that meeting knew for a fact it was a lie, but didn't say a word in my defense) So when I think about all of it now, I can see why the Norwegian Gov is of the opinion that human rights are being violated by the JW.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH:

I’m sure this Norway thing is making the JW religion afraid.

Not just loss of funding but having a magnifying glass and light shined on the religion’s practices and culture. They don’t want this advertised and the world knowing what really happens there.

Yes, I always believed the JW religion hates the idea of free speech - for their followers especially! This is why they LOVED the days before the internet when disfellowshipped people or those who just walked away had no place to vent their feelings. If somebody was wronged or victimized they wanted you to just Go Away and disappear into the night. Just suck it up and get lost…They don’t want anybody around speaking up about what happened to them. They hate this.

Well, Thank God for the Internet.

Watchtower fails to see that we live in the " Information Age" they can't hide anymore no matter how hard they try.

The Internet Age is really the Borg's worst nightmare. It's just brilliant.

The WTS is in favor of free speech and protected rights for itself, not for anyone who is not on their side. In the same way that they will say that it is important to be critical and question authority when they are encouraging people to leave other religions, but tell their members that they must accept the GB's teachings uncritically and never question them. Since they feel that they have God on their side, and Satan is on everyone else's side, they do not feel that they need to see things in a fair or balanced perspective.

At least people are starting to see through this dual natured way of the Borg.

They demand something for themselves,,,,then deny the same thing for it's members.

JW suing Kevin McFree. They wanted to take away his freedom of speech. But in thinking about it, that is the way of the organization

The first amendment legally applies in traditional public forums. But it doesn’t apply on private property or in limited public forums. For example, the preaching work is a form of freedom of speech but you may not have the legal right to preach or disseminate your beliefs on private property. Do don’t be shocked if you don’t have freedom of speech in the “Christian Congregation.”

I don’t know the case you reference but if a person says something that causes personal injury-and I don’t mean when someone is based on 1A and says something that hurts someone’s feelings-such person can be held legally liable. 1A is not only governed by time place and manner but a person can be held liable for saying something that damages another person and that is not taking away freedom of speech.

Based on JW interpretation of the Bible, secular standards of freedom of speech don’t apply in the Christian congregation.

Well no. Because the Borg hates being proved wrong.

When you consider how the Governing Body(tm) (Pee be upon them), stifle the speech of victims of Watchtower approved nonces, then is it any wonder they want to stifle anything that might damage their reputation?

Damaged reputation = loss of money. Oh my, oh my, how would poor TOMO get into a drunken stupor then?

FM - The first amendment legally applies etc & I don’t know the case you reference

The Youtuber is British, mate. Like me. I'm not sure how American amendments apply to him.

Beth's Serum - the Borg hates being proved wrong.

It's hilarious how many times they are proved wrong and even prove themselves wrong. Where do you start with that one? No wonder TOMO tries to remain drunk.
