Why does any or all criticism have to be taken negatively? I read the posts that are being alluded to, and basically, the only thing that was mentioned was Stacy's OWN words from previous posts. While the timing may not have been the best, Stacy took extreme offense it seemed instead of maybe just re-reading her own words. And I also noticed that any other statements made were not mean-spirited, but rather in keeping with her original words about being too young to get married.
That said, marriage is a huge step no matter what the age, and personally, I think it would be important to hear about the "negative" things--that's how we can learn and maybe AVOID some mistakes.
As far as other people's happiness, how does anybody here know if a person is deliberately trying to sabotage someone else's happiness? Are you them? Just my thoughts,

Well Aztec, I hate to burst your bubble, but I have some very good news that I am not about to post on this forum. I know in posting this information, it would only lead to me being pissed off at others. Some people can't look past another persons past to see things for what they are.
If that's the case, that is THEIR problem, not yours. If you share something fun and exciting and not everyone is pleased with it...SO WHAT?!?!?! We are free from the shackles of trying to please men. If you want to share, share. It's your life. Stand up and take it by the horns. Who the heck cares what some of the naysayers say. Or nay. Whatever.
Maybe this is a good experience for you to learn to not care what people think.

Other Peoples Happiness.
I tend to live a little vicariously through THOSE very individuals, and for what it is worth: I am (hopeful) always happy at any good news that they may have to share.
Anything that makes two individuals, or even one, makes me happy too.
The only criticism I have is: why didn't I find my happiness, earlier?
Nonetheless, it's contagious.

Thanks for starting this thread Obi, it is much needed around here. If someone makes an announcement they are happy about, what gives anyone else the right to start criticizing? Really, most people on here know each other superficially. What gives anyone the right to play devil's advocate & start needling? What IS the purpose? Is anyone really going to change their mind/course of action, when they did not ASK for unsolicited advice in the first place?
I have been observing this board more lately, & I do seem to see the same posters spreading their negativity. When someone announces their engagement, what kind of person badgers her? I'd like to know. Raining on someone else's parade is just wrong. It just brings everyone down.
The road to hell was paved with good intentions! If indeed, the intentions were ever good at all :)
