Bendrr, Skrewdriver is a "white power. white supremacist" band. Their version does crack me up, tho'. Speaking of punk & metal, the celtic punk band Flogging Molly's lead singer was the lead singer of 80's metal band Fastway.

I love metal myself, 'tho, I have'nt listened to much death metal.

    All the 80's metal definitely!

Absolutely, most of it was original, and well....heavy.

This new stuff is just noise to me. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

LOL.....ya, getting old might not help. Actually, the music ain't that bad, it's the singers I can't stand....what the hell are they mad about.

A few bands I used to listen to in the eighties apart from the obvious, Anvil, Micheal Schenker Group, Pinheads, Accept. The first albums of Van Halen and Def Leppard had excellent guitar. Actually anything with good guitar will catch my ear, as long as the singer makes sense.

I'm a huge Maiden and Metallica fan as well. Age has nothing to do with it! Some of the best metal albums come from the 80s and 90s IMO.

I really like thrash- Megadeth, old Metallica, Slayer, Testament, etc.

I'm also a huge death metal fan- Death, Cynic, Gorguts, Suffocation, Decapitated, Immolation.

I like bands from all the other subgenres too- Agalloch, Drudkh, Enslaved, Emperor, etc.

One of the best parts of leaving the WT was finally getting to really explore my favorite genre of music!

Wow a nine year old thread springs to life!

Add me to the list - my user name gives it away if you're into that kind of music. I have actually managed to see a wide variety of the old and new metal bands (plus other genres) and amassed a huge photo collection over a few years being a pro-photographer with far too many names to even mention, but it includes Metallica, Motorhead, AC/DC, Saxon, Iron Maiden... the good thing about being a photog is that after three songs you can leave without feeling you wasted a ticket, or you can stay and watch the rest of the show!
