You can thank the MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES for this, because they defeated the Lakers last night 106-90 in Minneapolis.
Of course, L.A. was missing Shaquille O'Neal and Karl Malone. But still, they shouldn't have played as badly as they did. Also -- what's up with Kobe, only taking 17 shots when his team needs him to step it up? I guess he couldn't deal with Garnett, Sprewell and Cassell, the league's top-scoring trio.

Minnesota 112, Sacramento 109 (OT) KG and Co. KO Kings? Home Streak SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 5 (Ticker) -- Latrell Sprewell authored the finish of the latest overtime thriller between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings. Sprewell scored a season-high 37 points, including two clutch jumpers in overtime, as the Timberwolves dealt the Kings their first home loss of the season, 112-109.
"For basketball people, this is what they want to see," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said. "This is what NBA basketball is all about. Teams going at it, going up and down, playing aggressively both offensively and defensively."
"We knew that it would be very competitive," Kings center Vlade Divac said. "We knew they would play hard because they are one of the best teams in the West. It's always interesting to see this matchup."
It was the fourth straight overtime game between the teams, an NBA record. -

Just saying.. Sacramento is currently atop the Western Conference, but they have extremely good competition in San Antonio, Minnesota and L.A. (once the Lakers get their injured stars back).
