Spare me please from the drivel that goes on during the CO visit. As an elder I was almost always the first or second one at the hall before a meeting, but come the week of the CO every lazy elder was there before me just to get that special nose browning award. A friend of ours calls it the "dog and phony show" week. It is indeed that and for what reason, I sure don't. The last few years even as an elder I just ignored them.

The elders make an effort to get things looking good because of the report that the c/o makes to the Society at the end of the week . i have known some to be quite cutting and elders do not want to look bad
We had one old c/o ,Ken Wildig, who would see right through it and say things on his final talk that made the elders squirm with embarrassment. He was unconventional, not out of the mold and i liked him.
Most of them were not worth much, and nowadays, the ones that I see appear to have grown up to it and have little experience of life

If anyone works in retail you will see that a CO visit is the same thing as a store visit from the district manager or the regional manager. The store managers work their ass off and get you to work your ass off to get the store spic and span and make everything look perfect for when the DM gets there. When he arrives they follow him like a lapdog with a notebook writing down all of his good advice and orders. And when they leave things fall back to the same they were before they came, a mess.

Everyone running around slipping money in his pockets and trying to give extra special talks so they can get promoted up the ladder. Kind of funny when you think about the fact we preach there are no divisions among Jehovahs clean people.
