Here is Australia 50 years ago there were prison sentences for homosexuality and the state governments have apologised for their stand to homosexuals that were imprisoned. This position is now seen like the dark ages and some of the young generation just find it hard to believe.
And yet Australia didn't make discrimination against LGBT people unlawful until 2013 and 60% of young LGBT Australians report experiencing homophobic verbal abuse. Being gay in Australia isn't exactly dreamy Barry, check some facts, more facts, or a recent claim that Australia is one of the west's most homophobic countries.
Presumably that homophobic abuse comes from immigrants only?

Glad you brought in the comparison to war, for this one is fought on many fronts too. and war has it's Lidices, Oradours, May Lays and Dresdens. and Orlandos? All targets are perceived to be inferior.

Australia is one of the west's most homophobic countries.
You could also add a moderate dose of racism to describe many Australian people to be fair.

the LGBT community are a beacon of hope for everyone. As to Islam - It does both foment intolerance as well as tolerance for Gays. This goes for most groups.
A more interesting question would be to ask which prejudices does one's own society accept as socially normal and which it tends to view as unacceptable. In our own society prejudice against mental illnesses like schizophrenia is more acceptable than prejudice against Gays while in some other countries it is the other way round.

This is the smartest thing I think anyone has said on this board regarding this matter. Christianity is in remission, Islam is growing.

Both holy books contain ugly and judgemental rhetoric. But only one of the major faiths regularly acts things out for real and has numerous high level preachers promoting the views. Since the reformation, Christianity has continued to be judgemental and unwelcoming but rarely does it's followers take direct action.
Here's the comparison in simple terms:
In Christian-majority countries, the actions of Christians are held in check by themselves and the rule of law.
In Islam-majority countries, the religion runs rampant and they often use the mechanism of government to act out their bigotry.
There really is no comparison and the regressive lefts clinging to the notion that the religions are the same based solely on holy verses while ignoring the actual teachings and practices is dishonest in the extreme.
I saw a great tweet the other day: If you don't care that some countries throw gay people from buildings, imagine they are throwing Gorillas instead (then there would be outrage).
