The week before I left the organization, I became aware that I could not picture the future. I couldn't see out a year, a month, even a week. It's like my life had come up against a black wall. It was right in front of my face, like standing with my nose pressed up against an inky black darkness. I guess my subconscious was trying to show me that I had no future in the organization.

Outgrowing the truth is a perfect symbol.

    That's exactly how I felt.

It felt so pretend and fake. All of it! The people, the fairy stories, the idea that we have a big secret that the rest of the world just doesn't get. It literally became laughable to me toward the end. It still is to some extent. Sort of like a grown up remembering when they believed there were boogey men in the closet.

Once I hit my teens the Troof never really made sense to me. I struggled with that feeling of not belonging. Like I was the only one who didn't get it. Finally I woke up and realized how futile it was to waste anymore time on their nonsense.

I felt the same way too!

It is like growing up and realizing the stories about Santa and other fairytales are just that. Childish stories that have no resemblance to reality. I felt that way about "The Truth". At a certain point it became an insult to my intelligence to listen to the crap from the stage.

Micheal, once you realize the truth about the troof don't you just want to run into the streets screaming "YAY"? I do all the time. It's a very liberating experience.

I understand exactly what you mean Michael, although it took being out of the org. for almost 10 years before I was ready to move on. There was also (for me) a great sense of excitement realizing the JW's didn't have all the answers, as this meant there was so much more to know and explore. Hearing the same things day after day/week after week/year after year - gets old.

Its nice to see you posting more often!

Az, without a doubt. That ongoing fear has been lifted and it is time to move on to something else.

That chapter in my life has ended. Time to write the next chapter.

Don't go running away unless you take me with you.
