While watching the History Traveler Channel's story on Lourdes, I heard an interesting phrase: "fantasy prone personality" and looked it up on line. I think it's pretty interesting. Let me know what you think.

Then I found an article on the opposite: Imagination Deficient Personality or skeptics as they are sometimes called.

    Any comments?

Very interesting! I definately fall into the fantasy prone category (as many of the skeptics on this board would agree!). As a child I could easily imagine that my toys were alive and I am very susceptible to hypnosis.

Thanks Robdar, both articles are really interesting. I think I'm a fantasy prone skeptic.

    Excellent articles Robdar.

Having thoughtfully considered them I find that I have strong traits from both categories, although some traits in both catergories I do not have at all. A little confusing?

Interesting material, as for the first piece; we all live in our minds and some people live in nice places and some do not.

As for the second article, Barbara Walters and Black & Decker? Is this for real?

Sirona, I thought of you and a couple of other friends when I posted the articles. I enjoy your "fantasies" and relate to them very much.

    LOL at Smurfette.

Link, it sounds as if you are quite balanced in your viewpoints. I wish others around here were.

Maverick, I wondered that myself but then I found other information regarding the subject.

Hmm.. the qualifications of the person who did the study on the skeptics seems a little shady:

David Quinne is a Certified Public Psychic. He is a graduate of Maharishi International University where he studied quantum metaphysics with a minor in political science. In the past he has worked as an aid to police officers, a private investigator and covert operator for unnamed government agencies. David's current projects include a book about his work as a police psychic, and a line of self-help pamphlets on the paranormal. David lives in Lowville, in Upstate New York. This is a slightly expanded version of an article which appeared in The Skeptic, 14(2), a publication of the Australian Skeptics.

    Doesn't inspire confidence.

Definitely a fantasy prone person here. Only child, loner in school, spent most of the time alone in my room talking to myself, acting out made-up dramas, drawing pictures, writing stories, or watching Star Trek with my parents. hehe
