Prices of 8-Tracks on the rise!

Last night, I stopped in at a Thrift Store called "Value Village" just to see if they had anything to waste my hard-earned money on. I came to the 8-track rack and found a copy of Fleetwood Mac's first album. Of course I grabbed it and walked up to pay for my item.

I nearly shit myself when I was charged $1.06 (including tax)! They jacked up the price! I used to pay 29 cents (including tax) for these things. So what's going on? Are 8-tracks becoming antiques or something?

I know what you mean, I went to wal mart the other day to see what they had in stock. As usual they had a lot of 8-tracks and some records. I've just recently retired from vinyl to 8-tracks because my wife had a 8-track player installed in my new Gremlin. I saw the new Creedance 8-track and decided I'd take a listen. As I was walking out I grabbed myself a twix. The whole thing came up to about $1.22 including tax. Why so expensive, I don't know.

Anyway, I got in my Gremlin, popped in my new Creedance 8-track and took a short drive to the local burger place and bought myself a coke and 2 burgers with fries. Get this, all that cost .98 cents. What the hell. When did everything start getting so expensive? Sign of the times I guess.

    Son of a bitch!

I gotta get out there and invest in some!

Seriously, I bet they will be worth some serious coin soon!

    Nosferatu,

Since every time you play an 8-track through, it stretches a little bit, the music on that tape now lasts longer than ever. More listening enjoyment = higher prices!

I collect albums and the longer I have them the more their worth(hang on to the MJ tape)

What I would do to get to go for a spin in a Gremlin!! Guess I need to take a ride in Desenders time machine first.

Geez...it's been awhile since I've seen an AMC Gremlin.

8-track tapes, yup....like Nos, at the Value Village. In my kitchen (don't laugh) I have an old mini-stereo. It has an 8 track player (Click-clack). It works beautifully.

I still buy vinyl, and love it. I walked by a turntable store on Queen Street West yesterday, and they had some turntables (for records/vinyl) for under $99.00. Gotta love that.

As for AMC Gremlins and Pacers: how much are they going these days?

Think Pacer: think "Wayne's World" car. That's a Pacer. Oddist looking cars those mid 70s American Motor Company vehicles.

I still think the AMC Javelin: hottie car.

Actually, I think it was a pacer, not a gremlin. Sorry.... I cannot tell a lie.

Thanks for refreshing my memory, Ray!

Wow! Captain & Tennille! Didn't they open for Iron Maiden once?

I've checked Ebay before and unfortunately, all the crappy titles are the cheapest (with the exception of ELO). If you look for stuff like KISS, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, you'll find they cost quite a bit more. I bought the white album on 8-track for $1.00 a few years ago (2 tapes)

Another factor to consider with Ebay is shipping charges (which cost more than the 8-track). If you really want to see some auctions go a little nutty, check out the Quadrophonic 8-tracks.
