ExJW as opposed to present JW

Sorry, I had no idea what to title this!

I was speaking to a sister this week via email and I said I was appalled by Anthony Morris's recent talk in Trinidad and Tobago when he said if you haven't been in the ministry for two weeks God looks down on your hands and what does he see? He sees blood and you will lose your life. But he didn't have blood on HIS hands because he was giving that talk.

She totally brushed it off with 'oh, that's just one man's opinion' and it occurred to me she didn't know who Anthony Morris was.

Which then made me realize how much exJWs know about the WT organization and how very much current JWs don't know. It doesn't matter what I say to her, and I am very carefully to drip feed her, absolutely everything is brushed off.

Even when it comes down to child abuse, she brushes it off. Everything.

Honestly, it makes me so grateful that I woke up and the more I think about it, the more I realise it was going to a psychologist that helped me do that. I can't believe the clarity of mind I now have. It truly is as if I woke up from a very deep sleep.

I would not have been able to see the stupidity in what he said WHEN I WAS IN.

They need so step away and take a good look. It is all BS. So many of us on this site can now see clearly.

I'm sure our brains protect us from trains of thought that terrify us. The thought that the GB is wrong leads to the teachings are wrong which leads on to there may be no new system coming. That's leads to I've wasted my life and I'm going to die. So they don't start down that road, they just brush it off.

Would someone be kind enough to point me to a video of that talk with Anthony Morris saying those things? Havent seen it. Thank you in advance!

To suddenly be confronted by the realisation that your denomination is as mistaken/lying/greedy/corrupt as all the others, is something which the JW mind cannot contemplate. It's unthinkable!

Hence the reason why they so easily obey the cult's directive never to read/watch anything which puts "Jehovah's Org" in a bad light. Ignorance is bliss.

It's been said before and is worth remembering that Jobos don't know what they believe. It's only when you examine Jobo 'teachings' that you find out what BS it all is. No wonder many leave after studying their beliefs. I did this. I thought I wasn't 'spiritual' enough so decided to build myself up to be a spiritual giant. However, the more I studied JW publications ALONE, was the more I saw it as a spiritual wasteland. Just constant guilt trips to pedal Jobo propaganda.

The Jobos have only empty words to cling on to. Oh, and the privilege of giving money to their leaders in america.

The Overlappers are brain dead. It is completing frustrating trying to deal with a person who doesn't know how to use their brain to think and thrives on the FOG...fear, obligation, and guilt.

EX JW's know more about the Overlappers and what is going on than they do.

That's what brainwashing looks like. However, it might seem like it's not having any effect on her, but it might. If you look at a lot of people here, what opened their eyes are very different things. Some people start thinking more critically when there's too much that doesn't make sense, others when they feel shunned and don't see any benefit in remaining loyal to that organization, and some others for some other reasons.

I'd say stay in conversation and don't have any expectations of her reaction being different than what you have experienced so far. She is paying attention, her curiosity may awaken by something you say at some point. Please keep in mind that what woke you up may not be what does other people. They are blindly following that organization and conditioned to feel that such blind devotion is ok.

Have you tried asking her things, instead of always pointing things to her and telling her things? If you don't know the real reasons why she's in that organization, you might be missing what you should address. As much as they claim that they are all the same "sheep", they are human beings with their own thoughts and their own diverse reasons to be there. Address her individual thoughts and reasons to be a JW.

The reference to not participating in the preaching work ( its not actually "weeks" , not explictly " 2 weeks " ) is about at 1 hour 45 minutes.

I try not to arouse too much suspicion with her, so I am careful. Her husband says things like 'I can practically hear Jesus sharpening his sword' and I gently remind her she has a grandchild and does she really think God is going to slaughter her? But she believes just before 'the end' there will be a massive intake of witnesses because people will suddenly realise they need to be witnesses!

I do try, gently, to make her think a bit. The mad thing is she left the WT for 15 years and only came back 5 years ago. But I guess she was POMI.
