    Brummie,

It's my experience that brain dead dubs exist in every country, however, they do not seem to be quite as fundamental generally as say, in the US.

At the risk of boring everyone, I can only mention my old Mum once again. She is a rock for JW's, dyed in the wool etc etc, yet she entertains my DF'd kid brother and DF'd little me on regular basis. She also comes to stay in the summer, accompanies me to the pub and drinks double whiskies.

Now I think that the reason that she does this is because, although she takes the scripture about shunning fornicators and drunkards seriously, she does not see Kid bro or myself doing these things now.

One on occasion she fixed me with a gimlet eye and stated that she would continue to associate with me because she had no evidence to suggest that I was an apostate. She was actually telling me not to tell her if I was an apostate!

thx Eman, your mom sounds like a great person to be around, however I think she is the exception to the rule rather than the norm.

If I remember correctly she is from the same area as a freind of mine who was disfellowshipped 1 week after taking an overdose and attempting to take her life. She stood up and screamed in the elders judicial committee (couldnt take it) and they dissfed her which meant she lost any support system she had in her family. I walked through the whole episode with her and in fact this led to my eventual disassociation, the KHs in the area your mother is from are cruel and heartless. I witnessed it first hand. Also the brother of the friend I speak about committed suicide on the night of the memorial in 1986, he was raised in it and not ONE JW turned up to his funeral. This is Telford, collectively they are just as cruel as any other country, individualy you may find a some that are kind, but this would be inspite of the Watchtower and not because of it.

    Brummie,

This is interesting. You're right, she's been in Telford for about 23 years. Did you know Radar lives there too?

Actually, there's something prodding me that we might have had a similar conversation at last years barbie, if we did please accept my apologies, it was all the fault of the beer.

    Brummie,

I'm not aware of the suicide in Telford. However, I did live there for a couple of years to keep an eye on Mum just after my Dad died in 84. I was in a incredible situation where JW's moved in either side of us!!!

As for Radar, who is from Telford, I've never met him but he used to post here quite a bit. He contributed good stuff to AJWRB here: http://www.ajwrb.org/members/hemWTS.gif
