Now I've seen everything.

Yesterday the doorbell rang and when I got to the door I see this nice young man with a clipboard in his hand. "Are you Mrs. XXX?" "Yes" "I'm YYY from AT&T and I'm updating our records. Our records show that XYZ Company is your long distance carrier........."

Pretty much the same schpeel they use on the phone !!

I gave the guy a pathetic look and told him I wasn't interested and shut the door.

So... now that these companies are required by law to leave us alone on the phone if we request it and there are penalties if they don't- they've taken to the streets!!

I'll bet those people hate their door to door work almost as bad as the dubs...........going to strangers houses and trying to sell them their crap.

About 10 years ago, 2 suited gentlemen approached me as I came out of the PacBell office paying my bill.

At first, I looked around to see if they had bicycles and decided they weren’t Mormons.

Then they tried to persuade me to change to MCI. I told them that I was a very dissatisfied MCI ex-customer and sped off!!! (No door to slam )

Probably a lot of u are not old enough to remember , that people used to do door to door selling all the time. Kirby vacumns, and all that stuff. My mom bought all kinds of stuff from door to door salesmen. Now that the phone can't be used as much, we will probably see a resurgance of this.

I'm thinking of willy loman death of salesman.

OMG- LOL Mustang ! 10 years ago? I thought maybe they had resorted to this new marketing because of the new laws !

What is kind of ironic is that it seems the JW's have found opposition to their door to door work so have begun to go the way of the telephone and then others have switched places with them and are now going door to door.

I can see it now- In a few years there will be races in neighborhoods to see which "group" can get there first on a Saturday! Ready set go !!

I used to sell Kirby vacuum cleaners, and then double glazing and fitted kitchens from door to door. I found that the practise I got on saturday mornings bullshitting at selling religion gave me the skills to make a good salesman IIRC I heard something recently that they were going to institute a do not call list in the UK too. I hope so!

Wednesday- I remember the Kirby salesmen and the Fuller Brush man !!! The Fuller Brush man used to come to the house when I was little !!
