I had decided not to become a JW -- involved in a horrific situation with clergy-member/wife and their loser 17-18 yr old I'd hired to do errands - actually more than one in their family on the dole. The pressure from couple others and love of my child (and one other family member) I weakened -- very stupid move! I knew the religion was wicked, full of fraud and this was only one of the bad situations I'd encountered -- took a lot of head pounding in wall to run.

I had one yard maintenance guy who was ex-JW - (Bethelite) who told me one day I was just naive -- he seemed very hesitant to talk much about it -- if only I'd probed.

When I hear the word " gullible " it reminds me of this snippet from Bugs Bunny-

I became a JW as an adult (with much exposure as a kid).
I needed to latch onto something in my life, so I suppose I was a bit gullible for awhile.

But a couple years into the religion, I pretty much figured out that good times and bad times and natural disasters and political changes and war and peace and changes in the doctrine- ALL INDICATED TO MANY JW's THAT THE END WAS IMMINENT!

Being gullible, naive and ignorant to what the bible really says is just a common infliction to all people who first studied to become a JWS.

The WTS exploits people ignorance and imposes fear that since judgement day is coming soon, all would be wise to join the organization and take its direction for making one look righteous in the eyes of god

It’s weird thinking about a response to this question.

The things that didn’t make sense even as a child you pushed down so you could support the doctrine you believed and preached.

i guess yes, gullible to a degree, hoping I’d have a pet lion, but in my heart I knew it was impossible.

If we got baptised then we were all gullible.

Yes, it's like saying at an AA meeting and admitting I got a problem with alcohol. I don't want to be in denial of the facts even if it hurts to say it.
