My brother Utah Dan" told me they would do this, hell what can you exspect they are a cult inn the bad sense of the word:
Perhaps the most confusing and dangerous religious term is "Cult". The word is derived from the Latin noun "cultus" which is related to the Latin verb "colere" which means "to worship or give reverence to a deity." Thus, in its original meaning, the term "cult" can be applied to any group of religious believers: Southern Baptists or Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses or Catholics, Hindus or Muslims. However, the term has since been assigned at least 7 new and very different meanings. The original meaning of "cult" remains positive; later definitions are neutral, negative, or extremely negative. http://www.religioustolerance.org/cults.htm
I just love the term "falling away spiritually"! More semantic bull crap! Not wanting to attend dry, boring meetings and face the same balderdash week in and week out, has nothing to do with lacking spirituality! Unless of course, you re-define the term as the Tower is want to do. Not selling mags and having "recruiting meetings" under the guise of "bible studies" is defined as "falling away spiritually" when in fact it is an emotional response to life-threatening (life defined as spirit) mind-numbing re-occuring events. Gawd, you've gotta love that sales club!
Amazing and undercover nailed it, all right. That in a nutshell is the reason that I was disfellowshipped 15 years ago. I kept operating on what was written and then defending my actions by that writing. The elders would have a fit and I'd stop them cold with what it said in the publications.
Finallly, they concocted charges that were bull sh*t from beginning to end and DFed me on that basis. That's why I've always told them, "If this truly is Jehovah's organization, then I will be exonerated. If it isn't, then who cares?"
